Months have passed since our wedding night and true to his words, I haven't seen Cole ever since he left that night. Well, life is back to normal. Or at least as normal as it gets. It's like I'm not married at all and it was all just a nightmare. The only reminder of that life changing day is the ring on my finger and two plane tickets to Maldives hidden somewhere in my drawers.
But as always, the moment I get used to something, change has to come and ruin everything. You know some days you just want to work at home and not go out to meet your office mates or any clients demanding an audience, today happens to be that day for me. So here I am lounging around my new place.
Somehow it still doesn't feel like home. Its not the safe haven I remember when I was a kid coming home to be with my parents after school. It's just another modern building that houses my stuff as well as his, meaning my husband's.
I admit I haven't really tried to settle in here myself. Most days I'm out from morning till late evenings, stopping by at Shaira's to grab a quick dinner, then head home just to sleep. The corners are probably dusty, yet the house still smells new.
Well then its decided, general house cleaning! Yes, I do know how. Before I lived with my grandfather, my self made billionaire father and my heiress mother see to it that I know how to survive on my own when money is tight. One way to do it is household chores. I swear my crazy father once took me out to some random rainforest to teach me jungle survival, but that's another story to tell.
I set out to work before I change my mind and procrastinate once again. Starting with my room, I worked my way down to the garage. It took half the day to finish, before I realize, it was lunch time. As I was making lunch with random loud music blasting through the stereo, I couldn't keep the nagging feeling within me that I am forgetting something that I've been putting off for a long time.
I was about to take the garbage bin out when my phone rang. I quickly took it out of my pocket and saw Harvey's name. "Hey Honey, what's up?"
"Don't panic," he said sounding breathless himself. Is he crying?
"What's wrong? Are you okay? What happened?" I fired at him feeling myself panic at his words.
"It's grandfather," Harvey replied and started breathing hard. "He's dead."
"What do you mean he's dead? That can't be. Last night, I spoke to him last night!" I yelled on the phone, feeling a sense of dread wash over me. "Hello? Harvey are you there? Answer me!"
"Marge, I don't know what to do." Harvey stated sounding desperate. "I need you here,"
"Don't cry, I'll be right there." As soon as I dropped the call, I raced to get to the hospital. When I got there, Harvey was alone crouched against the wall with his head between his hands.
"Harvey!" I called out grabbing his attention.
"Marge," he replied rushing to envelop me in a tight hug. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
"Hush, its okay Harvey. He's with grandma now, he's been wanting to be with her for a while now." I said trying to find comfort with my words for both Harvey and I.
"I'm so sorry," he kept saying and I don't know why but I kept hugging him close, burying my face against his shoulder as a tear slip down my face.
"I want to see him and afterwards I want to know what happened," feeling him nod, I pulled away and wiped his tears away. "You've always been the cry baby," I smiled sadly as I try to make light of the situation.
"Margaret," I heard an all too familiar voice calling me harshly. I turned to see my husband sending daggers at me. "Looks like you don't need me here,"
