Hours had passed, and at this time the four friends had all slipped on their black Hogwarts robes. They felt the train jolt as it came to a stop.
"Well,"started Jezzabelle, "this was REALLY fun!" I have to go meet up with some of my girlfriends but I guess I'll see you all in the Great Hall!"
She walked out of the car toward a group of girls that smelled like they had much too much perfume on, Cillian though.
The boys walked through the hallway of the train and opened the door to get off. They supposed that they were the first ones off, considering there was no one in the platform.
The moon had just peeked through the clouds, two little stars shining next to it in the little patch of clear sky over their heads.
"So..."Cillian said, trying to break the awkward silence. "To any of you know what House you'll be in?"
"Nn...not really...well, maybe Hufflepuff. I don't really fit in anywhere else..."said Matthew.
"Aw, it's alright mate," Neil said as he patted Mathew on the back, rather hard. "Well, I think I'll be in Gryffindor. All my family is in Gryffindor, well except Albus, who is probably going to be in Slytherin, cause that's what his dad says, but he's not technically a Weasley."
"Must be nice, having a family as big as the Weasleys," Cillian said.
Neil looked at him with strange eyes and started, "yeah, but they're all like my siblings. Even Teddy. I bet, when my generation has all of our kids, we could start a whole 'nother country!"
Cillian chuckled and patted Neil on the back. He awaited a response, but nothing came. Neil just stared in front of him, past Cillian.
Cillian saw Matthew frozen to the spot. He looked behind him, and immediately saw a huge man, with a big bushy beard standing on the end of the platform.
"Allo Hagrid!" Neil shouted over to the large man.
He walked over to Cillian, Neil and Matthew. Cillian had a feeling in him that he had seen this man before...perhaps he was in the news...or somthing.
"Well ello ther Neil! I had almost fergotten this was yer first year at Hogwarts," said the man.Neil explained how this towering giant, was, in fact, the famous Rubeus Hagrid. Of course, they all had heard of him, as Hagrid was talked about by their parents who previously attended Hogwarts.
"It's good to see you, Hagrid," Neil said.
Hagrid acknowledged this with a smile and nod but then turned to the other students who were just exiting the train.
"ALLO FIRST YEARS!" He bellowed to them all. "WELCOME TO HOGWARTS! Now if you'd please follow me, your adventure will begin." Hagrid finished and after doing so started walking slowly toward a large lake.
As Cillian and Neil started following the crowd and Hagrid, Mathew got stuck behind them. They walked down the steep flight of stone steps, which led down to the lake where nearly a dozen boats lay. As soon as they reached the bottom, Cillian and Neil got into a boat quickly so they could sit together. They were about to take off when a girl stepped swiftly into the boat with them.
The girl resembled Neil, in the fact that she too had red hair. It was cut close to her scalp on the sides, on top had a single maroon streak that looked like it was dyed.
She had a few freckles on her cheeks, and her skin was very fair. She hopped into the boat and seemingly landed in it sitting down.
Cillian was not too pleased about this, as there was now a girl riding with him and his mate. He was about to protest and tell this girl to find another boat to go in when she spoke.
"Please don't talk, I don't want a conversation to ruin the beauty of this night. Oh hello Neil, and do close your mouth, you are not a codfish. Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to be left to my side of the boat, undisturbed until we reach the other side," the girl finished and looked in the opposite direction of the boys.Cillian, looking at Neil, did, in fact, notice that his mouth was open, but it was probably because had flicked him on the nose when she first got in.
When the boat started moving, Neil almost swore that he saw a dragon flying high, high up in the sky. Cillian just called him mental, and they enjoyed a peaceful ride. The moon was full, and the stars were twinkling bright; with the occasional dark cloud or two to block out the moon temporarily. The breeze was cold but soothing to their faces, and every now and then, Neil or Cillian would put their hand in the water and feel a fish, or seaweed, or just the cold lake water.
They finally got to shore, and before the boys for out, Neil called to the girl sitting at the bow, "Ladies First!", but she only replied "last one in, last one out."
