As the lessons turned into hours, which turned into days, which turned into weeks, the students all became closer to one another...in one way or another. Some made friends that they were to have throughout their entire year, like Cillian and Neil, who had become 'best friends for life'. Others made sworn enemies. Like Spiderous Malfoy and an unfortunate Matthew. As the relationships of the students grew, so did the pumpkins that Hagrid was growing in his garden. Halloween drew nearer, and all the first years were talking about the ball and the party.

The Halloween Ball was a relatively new tradition. It had been suggested at least ten years ago by Professor Lovegood, but it did not take effect until five three years later. The idea was that the night before Halloween and the feast, there was a 'ball'. If you were a third year, you were allowed to have a date, and the two(or one if you are forever alone) would go to the ball and dance, drink punch, eat food, etc. If you were not old enough for the ball, you could just go to your assigned house party room. Each house would stay with their own company and were not allowed in another house's room.

Cillian was told by Rose that at the party there was spooky music, cobwebs everywhere, green punch that sizzled in your mouth, food that could come to life at random every now and then; which was kinda of creepy to think about, but when Cillian imagined a cookie growing legs and becoming a spider cookie and jumping all over Spiderous making him shriek, he lost his fear. Everyone counted the days till the parties. Even the Slytherins seemed more joyful than usual.

The classes rolled along throughout the days and Cillian found his ultimately favorite class. Defence Against The Dark Arts. Professor Sapphirus had been the nicest teacher by far, not giving them piles and piles of homework like Mcgonnagal did(although she was headmistress, she refused to give up her place as the teacher of Transfiguration). She gave them very interesting lessons. like the one concerning Vampires. She had them read a chapter in their book briefly, then allowed them to practice repelling charms on a bloodsucking bat. Cillian easily repelled any and all attempt made the vampire bat to suck his blood, and ended up being the top example of that lesson.

Another great day that Sapphrius taught was about Werewolves. They had a special class at night where they studied the full moon, the stars around it, and what the arranging of the planets could do with their transformation. They learned that if all the planets are aligned with the moon when its full, then they will gain ten times the strength, be able to make their fur glow with fire and embers. or maybe their coat will turn white, and they will have the power of ice breath. all of these crazy abilities made Cillian weary of believing it all, but when the teacher showed him pictures of when the moon was lined with bright glowing balls(the planets) and a huge wolf(a werewolf) with every fur on its body covered in flames without it even burning, he believed all right.

One day in Care Of Magical Creatures, with the Slytherins, Cillian realized how gentle Salem was. She simply could pick up any creature that was brought to her, and stroke it, softly. She had even managed a to hold a Pixie in her palm while she fed it horse flesh. According to Professor Luna Lovegood, Salem Silva was at the top of her class when it came to CARING. She was the nicest person in all of Slytherin, Cillian knew.

Halloween got closer. Closer. now just two more weeks. Ah, nevermind, one week. Oops! My mistake, tomorrow. The Party was tonight.

Cillian, Neil, and Matthew got into some fun clothes and were about to head downstairs before Pheonix stopped them. She was wearing a long black gothic dress with dark lace frilled along the edges and along the middle.

"You three do realize it's a costume party, right?" she said mockingly as she examined their clothes.

"Uh oh..." Neil uttered to Cillian
