Adam made his way up the stairs and Avi followed. The stairs went up and around a curve before being flat on a plain area again. The block was clear. It seemed like every student was already in their classes, but you could hear muttering from teachers and students.

-Adam: There it is.

He pointed down the hall to the door in the center. The door had a sheen brown colour on it. The sign was also on it, in a golden colour.

-Avi: Thank you...Adam, right?

He smiled.

-Adam: Yes. I'd love to come with you, but the principal and I are not on good terms.
-Avi: I totally understand. Thanks again.
-Adam: No problem. I'll see you around Avi.

He winked at her as he made his way back downstairs. She made her way down the hall, looking in every classroom as she passed them. When she finally made it to the door, she stopped, straightened herself, took a deep breath out, and then knocked on the door.

-Mr. Hardwell: Come in.

She turned the knob and opened the door. She saw a man in glasses and a grey suit jacket sitting around a large desk. He was of light complexion with dark hair. His face was bearded up, but neatly shaved. He had a pen in his hand and some files in front of him. He looked up and greeted her with a smile.

-Mr. Hardwell: Ms. Kheel, please, have a seat.
-Avi: Thank you sir.

She closed the door and took one of the seats in front of her.

-Mr. Hardwell: I have been expecting you. Your father called me yesterday. He wanted us to meet.
-Avi: So I have heard sir.

He placed the pen aside and laced his fingers into one another.

-Hardwell: Well, as you may know already, I am Mr. Ryan Hardwell and I am the principal of this institution.

She slowly nodded her head for every word he said.

-Hardwell: It is my job to look out for new students like you, to ensure that you are all comfortable with the new environment and with everyone in it.
-Avi: I like it here so far Mr. Hardwell.

She gave him a light smile. It was clear that she was nervous, but she tried her best to keep her composure.

-Hardwell: So when do you plan on starting your day here?
-Avi: I...

He interrupted her before she could have answered.

-Hardwell: Take into consideration that the sooner you start, the better it will be. You will be up to date with the lessons and assignments.

She thought about it and came up with starting tomorrow. Her dad wanted her to start the following week, but hearing him say that changed her decision. Plus she didn't want to be at the house all alone with thoughts of her mother and brother in mind.
-Avi: I will start tomorrow Mr. Hardwell.

He lifted a smile on his face.

-Hardwell: Brilliant! You will still need to get acquainted with the school so I will get one of my students to show you around.
-Avi: Thank you sir.

He shuffled through his files on the desk and took out a blank sheet of paper out of the bundle. He wrote a small note on it and handed it to Avi.

Hardwell: Take this to the Administration Office. My secretary will fix you up with some information that you will need...like your class schedules, homeroom, et cetera et cetera.

She leaned forward in order to collect the note.

-Avi: Thank you sir.

He smiled at her as he fixed his red striped tie.
