It was 2pm when school ended and Taylor was done showing Avi around the school's campus. Not that she will remember all the places as yet, but the company and the adventure was just what she needed. It was then time to show her a part of what South Hill was all about. It was a small town. Basically everyone knew everyone. It would take the average person three whole days to tour all of South Hill. It was known for its many mysteries. Weird things have happened here, things out of the ordinary. But it has been a while since anything strange has occurred. People moved about and lived their normal lives.
Taylor took around the main areas of the town. They chat, and laughed, and got to know each other a little better. The last stop was at Taylor's favourite café, 'Sweet Café'. Apparently it was owned by her uncle. It was a small building at the edge of a block. It was brown and had a huge glass window at the side.
-Taylor: Welcome to Sweet Cafe.
She pointed at the sign.
-Taylor: My uncle owns the place. I come here everyday after school to either do my homework or just hang out.
-Avi: It looks like my kinda spot.
-Taylor: Wait til you see inside.Taylor pushed the door and allowed Avi to enter first. The smell of coffee hit her nose. She breathed in the good scent of baked products and fried food. She stood still for a good five seconds before moving again. Taylor went over to the ordering counter where her uncle was.
-Taylor: Uncle Jack?
-Jack: Hey Taylor. I thought you were gonna be here earlier.
-Taylor: Yeah, I was busy showing the new girl in town around. She used her head to indicate that she was talking about Avi. Jack looked at her and greeted her with a smile, and she did the same.
-Jack: I'm Jack, nice to meet you...?
He stretched his hand out.
-Avi: Avion Kheel. The pleasure is mine.
She shook his hand.
-Jack: As in John Kheel's daughter?
Avi had a surprised look on her face.
-Avi: Yes. You know my father?
Jack chuckled.
-Jack: Your father is a well-known man in this town. We were kindergarten buddies. Always competing with the guy.
Avi chuckled and nodded her head.
-Avi: He can be very competitive at times.
-Jack: Ha, I second that. So what are you two up to?
-Taylor: I'm going to help Avi with some school stuff. Tomorrow will be her first official day.Avi nodded slowly.
-Jack: OK. It was nice meeting you again Avion. I hope you get comfortable in this new town.
-Avi: Thank you very much. I have a strong feeling that I will...with Taylor's help of course.Taylor warmed Avi with a smile.
-Jack: Brilliant.
A customer came over to the counter behind Avi. Taylor noticed and pulled Avi towards her.
-Taylor: C'mon. I have someone else that I'd like you to meet. We'll talk uncle.
-Jack: OK Taylor.Taylor walked Avi over to one of the seats. There was a girl sitting with a book at the seat they were walking towards. She was a brunette with long hair. She was so focused in the book that she was reading. The table was against the wall with two rows of cushioned seats, so Taylor sat beside her and Avi sat in front of them. The girl looked beside her. She smiled at Taylor.
