Rocket’s lips crashed into mine generating a completely thrilling moment that I would remember for the rest of my life. His lips felt warm, and oh so soft. His kiss was very tender and savouring, and made me feel as though I was floating ten feet off the ground. And, when he kissed me, I felt what I had been missing with Luke. I felt the connection. The spark.

He broke away all too soon, his face stricken with panic.

“I’m sorry. That didn’t mean anything!” he said quickly.

“But…you said…”

“It didn’t mean anything!”

“Right” I agreed “Didn’t mean anything. It was just friendly.”

“Just friendly.” he repeated.

There was a long and, you guessed it, awkward silence between us.

“Okay, I lied, it wasn’t friendly. I’m not your friend!” he blurted out.

“So you’re not my friend now?”

“No! I am your friend!”

“Make up your damn mind, Rocket!”

“Just…I…uhh…what I’m trying to say is…”

The door flung open and his words halted immediately. A woman entered. She looked middle-aged, either late thirties or early forties, and had short bouncy brown hair accompanying her matching eyes framed with glasses. I could tell she was a Doctor instantly from her uniform.

“What are you doing out of bed!?” she demanded upon sighting Rocket sitting up “How many times do I have to tell you to stay there!?”

Rocket sighed, and fell onto his back as he was told.

“Be careful!” the Doctor pleaded “You’re badly injured. You can’t just go throwing yourself about like that!”

“Whatever…” Rocket replied casually. The flustered Doctor sighed and turned to me.

“I don’t believe we’ve met. I’m Doctor Roberts. Call me Karen.” she offered me her hand, and I shook it.

“I’m Hero.” I replied.

“So, in what way are you related to…”

“Stop! She can’t know my name.” Rocket interrupted her. Dr. Roberts gave us both an utterly confused look, before continuing.

“How are you related to ‘He Who Must Not Be Named’”? she smirked. I couldn’t help but laugh.

“I’m…a friend? I think? Or something like that anyway…” I replied.

“Okay. Well, as you can see he is in a good condition. His injuries are very severe, and will requite much further treatment, but he should be discharged by the end of next week. He will, however, be permanently scarred.” she explained, then she turned to Rocket.

“Do you have a parent or guardian who I can speak to?” she asked.

“I have adoptive parents…” he muttered.

“Would you mind providing me with their contact number?” she asked.

“Hero will do it.” he replied.

“Umm…okay then…” Dr. Roberts offered me some paper and a pen, and I scribbled down Madison’s cell phone number.

“If there’s anything you need, please contact someone immediately. They will let me know.” Dr. Roberts said.

“Okay, thanks.” I said, waving to her as she left.

“Goodbye, ‘He Who Must Not Be Named’” she winked. I burst out laughing the moment she had left the room. Rocket frowned at me.
