What would Poppy do to Zac now that he knew he used to hit me? Would be confront him? Hand him in to the police? Give him to my mother? I hope he didn’t plan on hitting him because my poppy is an old man and Zac is nearly twice the size of him and I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t hesitate to hit him back. I sighed as I munched on a fry. We had been at the restaurant for about half an hour and everyone was having a good time but me. I had an uneasy feeling in my stomach and I was just generally worried.
“Livv you right?” Alex asked loudly from across the table he was sitting next to Nat with his arm casually slung over Nat’s shoulder, she was grinning from ear to ear. It was nice to see Nat happy.
“Peachy…” I murmured nervously.
I couldn’t shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen.
“Get in there and apologise to my granddaughter right now!” Poppy’s familiar voice bellowed through the restaurant and my head snapped up quickly my eyes searching for Poppy and Zac. I caught sight of them at the entrance. Poppy was literally dragging Zac in by the ear towards us. I gasped as did Kat and Sofia. Every single guy at the table snickered as Zac was dragged over to our table, Poppy stood in front of me Zac next to him with a remorseful look on his face. “Apologise!” Poppy ordered.
Everyone in the restaurant had stopped what they were doing/eating to watch what was about to happen. I looked Zac up and down to see that he looked unharmed which meant that Poppy was smart enough not to hit him. But then I noticed that he had a swollen cheek … eh he deserved it. At least he had enough sense not to hit Poppy back. “I’m sorry Livv.” He said quietly.
“Louder!” Poppy demanded pulling on his ear.
“I’m sorry!” He said louder.
“What are you sorry for?!”
“I’m sorry for hitting you Livv.” He said loudly. Poppy let go of Zac’s ear and shoved him to the floor. Poppy shoved his hands to his pockets and pulled out his wallet and shoved a twenty dollar bill in his face.
“Get a cab home!” Zac got up quickly leaving the money on the ground and made a bee-line for the exit.
Some of the people in the restaurant clapped.
I stood up and hugged my Poppy tightly. “Thank you poppy!” I cooed.
“Don’t you ever let something like that go unnoticed again!” He told me. “I will always be here for you.” He then turned to Callum who was sitting next to me and said, “Look after her son, because I won’t hesitate to make you do the same thing.” He then walked off after kissing the top of my head and wishing us a nice holiday.
I sighed happily sitting back down next to Callum.
“Feel better now?” Cal asked as he rubbed my back soothingly and leaned over and stole one of my fried.
“I’d feel better if you didn’t eat my food!” I complained. He laughed and stole another one. I slapped his hand and he picked up another one feeding it to me. I’m pretty sure that half the table just groaned with disgust.
“Get a room!” Alex groaned.
“So I’m pretty sure that’s the only thing you ever say to me these days Alex.” Callum chuckled and kissed me softly in front of everyone. I’m really glad I have a boyfriend that’s not afraid of a little public display of affection, I think it’s nice to let everyone know that you’re together and smitten, granted tongue hockey is just gross.
“Are you guys ready to hit the road, I’m pretty sure most of us would like to arrive at the cabin sometime today.” Noah said and everyone but me and Callum nodded.
“Can’t we stay a little longer?” I complained as everyone stood up.
“No you can be all lovey dovey in the car Livvy, and at the cabin and on the way home and -.”
“I get it Alex.” I muttered cutting him off in the process he was about to start rambling.
“I’m so happy your poppy put Zac in his place.” Nat commented as we walked through the parking lot back to the cars.
“I never actually thought I’d see Zac back down like that it was really surprising.” I replied.
When we got to the trucks we were all ready to leave and very keen to get to the cabin and relax for the next two weeks. So the trip after the cabin was pretty cruisy and by the time we got there the sun was starting to go down. We quickly unpacked the trucks and started to organise rooms. All together there were four couples and there were five rooms. We decided that it would be nice if the girls shared rooms and the guys shared rooms. So Sofia and Natalie went to in one room and Cat and I in the other. Cal decided that he’s room with James to seem friendly but I’m pretty sure he just wanted to get away from Noah and Alex. The spare room was dubbed ‘the honeymoon suite’.
“Lake!” Alex yelled as he whipped his shirt over his head and running out of the cabin. I giggled as Natalie’s eyes went wide and she followed suit taking off her white tank top to reveal a bright yellow bikini underneath. Callum and James were in the bedroom unpacking their things, Cat, Sofia and Noah had all gone outside so I was left by myself in the kitchen doing the unpacking of the shopping. We had a heap of coke, chips and I had convinced Alex that it was a good idea to by some fruit so we didn’t get fat while we were here. We had bought heaps of meat and there was no doubt that we would be eating barbequed sausages and hamburgers for breakfast lunch and dinner. I put all the cold things in the fridge and then unpacked all the chips and snacks in to the cupboards.
I sighed happily, finally things had worked out for the best. Zac would now leave me alone, I was having a nice time away with my friends and my awesome boyfriend and was finally happy. Nothing could ruin my happy mood right now, everything is perfect.
“Olivia stop cleaning and put on that sexy bikini I know you have.” Callum’s soft voice brought me out of my happy day dreaming and looked up at him. He was standing in front of me shirtless in his board shorts ready to go for a swim.
“In your dreams, someone has to keep this place in shape.” I replied and kept piling bags of potato chips in to the cupboard.
“No bad Olivia, we’re on vacation! So god damn it woman vacate!” He growled playfully coming in to the kitchen and grabbed me by the waist and pulled me out of the kitchen and to the bedroom that I was sharing with Cat.
“No!” I insisted trying to wiggle out of his grip.
“Livv do I have to put the bikini on you myself?” He cocked an eyebrow and I glared at him.
“Bet you’d like that …” I joked.
“Well if you insist.” He shrugged his shoulders and put me down on the bed walking over to my suitcase.
“Callum get out!” I yelled at him trying (not very successfully) not to laugh. He laughed as well as he pouted and walked out of the room leaving the door wide open.
“Callum!” I complained.
“I knew you’d me back!” He spun around on his heel with a devilish grin. I rolled my eyes and got up slamming the door in his face making sure to lock it just in case he tried to open the door. I pulled out a black bikini and slipped it on.
The place looks different now that Poppy had renovated and cleaned it up. It looked fresh and more modern than it had since I had last been here. The room I was sharing with Cat seemed quite large now that it had been painted white. There were two double beds, two bedside tables and a large built in closet that was big enough for Cat and I to share.
I pulled my hair in to a pony tail and grabbed the beach towel I had packed. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled … time to get my relaxation on.
