01. A Wager

l woke up to the sound of my alarm clock beeping like mad. I groaned and pressed my pillow hard against both my ears. When the beeping didn't subside I threw my blanket on the floor and padded to the ridiculously loud alarm clock, tapping it quiet.

I went to the bathroom to get a quick shower and threw on a pair of leather jeans, and a white loose T-shirt. I let my auburn hair fall wavily just near the small of my back. I grabbed my bag and slipped in my combat boots. I rammed my keys into the ignition and drove my way to school.

I pushed the doors open and was immediately greeted with mobs of students. Amy and Brittaney, my two best girl friends, waved at me and I skidded the halls across to them.

"Hey," I smiled, unlocking my locker and taking out my Biology book.

"You look nice," Amy chimed in.

          "Thanks," I laughed.

"How are you coping?," asked Brittaney.

I raised an eyebrow at her.

"For god's sake, we know about you and Jacob's trip to Splitsville," they glared at me, immediately replacing them with looks of pity.

I just laughed, "Come on, it wasn't serious anyways. I'm fine." Actually, I wasn't. But there's no way I'm going to let anybody see me vulnerable. I didn't cry--at least not pubicly, I didn't want anybody giving my pity.

"Whatever you say," Amy gave me a reluctant look, obviously seeing past me. I hate it when she can read me easily like a book splayed out infront of her.

I practically just sketched on the back of my notebook the whole time Ms. Debora was giving out a lecture about Botany. Half the class was asleep and she practically hasn't even noticed.

Finally, the bell rang, signaling for second period. I ran off to my locker and grabbed my Chinese Language book.

I walked slowly to the opposite side of school where the Chinese department was. I sat the farthest from the teacher's table, immediately taking out my previous notebook to continue my sketching.

"Heeey," I wipped my head to the side, startled.

Travis was smiling at me like an idiot. His raven hair falling on his startling, light, brown eyes, fixing on me. I slammed my notebook shut and glared at him, "What?"

He held both his hands up , "Just trying to be friendly, Allie. Why so freasky early in the morning, huh?"

I grumbled, blowing a strand of hair away from my eyes, "I'm sorry. It's just--bad break up." I looked at him slowly.

His expression was blank, "You and Jacob? Again?" Jacob and I have been in an on and off relationship. Like the d*ck he is and his bipolar ways. But this last break up was final, I know it. It's not like I took it personally or whatever, it wasn't even anything serious. I knew from the start it was never going to last. Not one relationship lasts this days anyways.

I nodded, "But I think, this time it's the last break up, you know? It's not like I hope it's going to last. It wasn't going to, from the starts, anyways."

              "Are you okay?," he asked.

I threw him a megawhatt smile, "Tremendous."

"So you're okay with you and him splitting up?," Trav pushed on.

           "Well, yeah. I mean, no--but, well, I don't know," I admitted.

He just laughed. We were silent for a moment. Probably thinking on what to say next and then I looked up at him, he was looking at the teacher but was looking at nothing at all, at the same time. I looked at how his shaggy, raven hair fell perfectly around his face. His bright, brown eyes soft, his button nose which wrinkled when he thinks, and the way he bites his lips when he's agitated-- and then, I snapped.

"Hey, Trav?," I asked in a small voice.

He snapped his eyes back to me, "Hmm?"

"Can you--Do you..want to help me?," I looked at him through my eyelids, "I mean, you know, get over Jacob."

"Sure," he smiled, but then it faded as quickly as it came, "but how?"

"I don't know..maybe we can get together...? But nothing serious."

He flicked his tongue across his bottom lips, and god did that turn me on, "What if..you know..I fell in love with you? Do we break up?"

I shook my head, "No, we can continue it if you want."

He wrinkled his nose then averted his eyes from me, he was silent for a moment then looked up at me again, "Yeah, sure. Why not?"

      I smiled, "Thank you!"

He moved his sit closer to mine, throwing his arm behind my chair, "Of course, babe."

I don't know what I got myself into but I hope this works out fine.
