I walked briskly back towards the beach house, the freezing air bit into my skin as if it was food. I pushed the front door open, relaxing as the heat of the house engulfed through me.
I made my way towards the living room where Amy, Brittaney and Travis were seated, looking at an already frozen Captain America. The three of them looked up as I placed the box of doughnuts on the coffee table, taking a seat next to Travis and cuddling up onto him to grasp his warmth.
"It's about time you got here," Brittaney exclaimed, jumping out of her seat and grabbing a doughnut.
I shivered, causing Travis to wrap his arms around me, skimming his hands on my arm, "I'm sorry, I walked into someone."
The three of them raised an eyebrow, asking me to continue. I shook my head, "It's no one of importance."
Amy and Brittaney shrugged, turning their attentions back to the dimly lit screen while munching on their doughnuts. Travis leaned over to me, his lips brushing over my ear, making me shiver, "You're freezing, baby."
I took hold of the blankets, burying myself in them as Travis pulled me to him even closer. His arms encricled my freezing body, his hands rested on my hips. I rested my head on the crook of his neck, inhaling his manly perfume. Travis's touch made my skin burn, making me shiver even when it was extremely warm. He's had that effect on me from the moment he laid eyes on me; the feeling that he can hurt me any time he wanted to, but the problem is, I'd still let him.
Watching him watch the movie was a movie itself. The way that he wrapped me into his arms made my inside melt. I was scared because when people have that effect on you, you know you're screwed. He's my Achilles's heel, but he has the slightest idea.
"I'll go get coffee," I whispered into his ear. He looked down on me with a smile, his fingers tracing circles on the skin under my shirt.
"I'll go with you." he said, taking my hand and leading me towards the kitchen. The both of us stayed silent for a while, him grabbing the cups while I got the water ready.
I felt him cozy up behind me, pressing his cheek against mine as I poured out hot coffee onto each cup he has prepared. I his chest heave up and down behind me, somehow channeling comfort into my dizzied up head.
Dmitri Lutz, I thought. I knew that it was familiar. That name echoed into my brain asif my subconscious depended upon it, that name that has been spoken so often before but was never given an identity until later today. Those forest green eyes that spoke so much and so less at the same time, the tossled up brown hair haunted me, sending chills down my spine.
Travis and I both headed to our room, him falling asleep almost immediately after our deed. I walked over to the couch, grabbing his shirt that has fallen from the floor and wearing it to cover up my bare body.
The moon shone down against the still water, lightening the entire beach with just its beams. I watched as the silent waves continuously beat the sand, coming back and going away again. The night was peaceful, the beach house was quiet.
I turned back to Travis who was sleeping soundlessly on the bed. His taut muscels accentuated, his hair tossled to different angles possible. He didn't shiver despite the fact that the only thing that was covering him was the sheet which was slung low around his bare waist. I go out of coach and made my way to him, slipping under his arm and cuddling closely to him.
Travis stirred but didn't wake up. His arms tightening their grip around my waist. He buried his face onto my hair, his breathing even against the nape of my neck. I slowly dozed into peaceful sleep with the steady sound of Travis's breathing.
"You might not want to go around the house just wearing Travis's shirt," gushed Amy who was flipping the channels and munching on her pretzels.
I shrugged, taking hold of my mug and sitting next to her. She finally stopped at Nickelodeon, where they were showing an episode of Rugrats, "God, I haven't watched this in ages."
She nodded, taking another pretzel, "Can you just imagine if we were still kids now and we didn't have to eorry anything but scraped knees?"
The heat of the coffee burned my tongue but nontheless, I continued sipping onto it. Amy turned to me, pretzel bits stuck arounf the corner of her mouth, "You had sex last night."
I snapped my head back to her, my jaw went slack, "What--?"
Amy laughed, "This house isn't that big and I just sleep next door," she turned her attention back to the TV. She took my mug and took generous sips, "I heard the headboard rocking and all the grunts, moans, and groans. I'm not stupid."
"Well, I didn't say you were," I chimed in, kicking my feet up onto the coffee table.
She cracked up, "I guess litte princess Allie isn't as innocent as everybody thinks she is now, is she?"
I rolled my eyes, trying to supress my smile, "I could say the same for you."
Her laughter faltered but she still smiled, "Touche."
"Hey, Amy?" I carefully scrutinized her, watching as her blonde waves bobbed up and down as she turned her full attention to me.
I remembered how Dmitri kept bumping the other day and was always greeted with those welcoming, warm green eyes. Those eyes that could pierce through your soul and read you like an open book. Even if Dmitri and I had just met, those eyes seemed to dawn with recognition as they rested on me. His warm palms steadying me as I fell twice the other day, those hands that sent fires up my arm. No, don't get me wrong. I didin't like him like that. There was no way I would. Despite his chocolate brown, shaggy hair, lean muscles and extravagant features, he was just not my type.
"Yes?" she cleared her throat, making me jolt out of my reverie.
I bit my lips, taking the mug of coffee from her and skimming my fingers through the ceramic cup, "What was Dmitri like?"
She tried to keep her composure but the reaction of being startled betrayed her primmed demeanor, "What?"
"Dmitri?" I pushed on suggestively.
Her eyebrows raised to somewhere near her hairline, the sudden unspoken topic about her ex left her dumbfounded, "Um, well..." she cleared her throat, her fingers fumbling with the loose strands of thread on the throw pillows, her heart rate was inevitably fast, no doubt about that, "he was tall. Really tall. Tan skin, forest-like green eyes. Dark chocolate hair."
I nodded, her words matching every aspect of Dmitri's features, "And how long were you together?"
She chewed on her lip, obviously uneasy talking about Dmitri, "Barely four months, I think."
I rested my back onto the soft cushions of throw pillows, the warmth of the long sofa welcoming me, "What happened?"
"Well, what usually happens," she let out a forced laugh, "they find someone else. They make up a stupid excuse about it and then they leave you hanging."
"So he was a player?" I inquired once again, taking a long sip of coffee.
She laughed hoarsly, "No, he was more of a flirt."
"What was his last name again?" I asked, not wanting to hear the answer I already knew.
"Lutz," she said calmly, turning back to the TV.
