We arrived home with just a half hour to spare before we had to leave to the ball. Lisa was furious as she stood screaming at Michel while I rushed upstairs to get dressed. Every once in a while, a smile crossed my face and my hands subconsciously tugged at my lip. I felt positively giddy. Perhaps it was this happiness that made the gown on me look all the more stunning. I'd put my hair up in a low elegant bun and slipped on a pair of heels. The blue of the dress set of my hair color perfectly and was snug around my waist. I blushed as I remembered his hands there. Before I could get carried away, I stepped away from the mirror and left the room. Trying not to appear any more self-conscious than usual, I went downstairs. At the base of the stairs was Jack dressed up in a suit and a green tie to bring out his eyes.
"You look beautiful," he said. I grinned just as I felt the back of my neck prickle. I looked down at my neck, which was now adorned with small row of sapphires to complement the dress. Michel's fingers connected the clasp before place a quick kiss right where the clasp was. Goosebumps rose up on my hands and a small sigh escaped me.
"I knew it would suit your dress," said Michel as he finally came into view. He was dressed identically to his brother except he'd chosen a blue tie to set of his own eyes. His hair was sloppily undone making him look rugged and handsome.
"Are you all ready," Lisa's voice rang from behind. She came into view wearing a simple yet elegant white gown and a set of pearls to match. Jack extended an arm towards his mother who took it before exiting the house.
"Come on," Michel said, tucking my arm under his before following his brother.
The Richardson's had chosen a large ballroom quite nearby for the evening. It was gleaming white and bustling with people as they arrived in a variety of different coaches and wearing beautiful dresses. I clutched Michel's arm tightly to not get lost in the crowds. He looked down at me and raised an eyebrow. I narrowed my eyes and he laughed before leaning down to whisper in my ear.
"You look stunning by the way." I blushed at his words and couldn't keep the huge smile of my face. I suddenly realized that I might see my mother here. Instead of the joy, I only felt disappointment at the thought of leaving Michel, Jack and Lisa behind and I found myself wishing that she wasn't here.
