"Oh, that was embarrassing. Why didn't you-- ugh! Stupid!" I said to myself as he was walking to class; SCIENCE LAB. Ugh, I hate science! My day is off to a sour start...
When I entered the room, I saw June sitting in a two seat table next to a window. I took a seat in the table across the room. "Attention students, pay close attention while I read the seating chart. Kate Willis and Michael Cote, table one; Hillary Diaz and Gregory Smith, table two; June Carrey and Andrew Figueroa, table three..." the teacher announced.
I took a deep breath and "casually" walked to table three and sat next to June. "Hi." I said.
"Hi." June said back. I love science. I thought to myself. After science class, I had physical education. "Hey lover boy, who's that girl you were talking to in the science lab?" Michael asked. "None of your business, Michael." I answered. "C'mon man, you can't shut me out like this forever anyway. I'm your room mate." Michael said. "You're never gonna stop bothering me until I tell you, aren't you?" I asked.
Michael nodded in response. "Her name is June Carrey. We met this morning and I'm gonna sit with her during lunch. There! Are you happy?" I said annoyed. "I got your back. Trust me, I'll help you with June." Michael said. "Right..." I said sarcastically.
During lunch...
I walked to the school courtyard and saw Michael walking behind him. "I don't need your help, Michael." I said. "Dude. Have you seen yourself? You're a bundle of nerves!" Michael exclaimed. I simply ignored him and sat next to June. At first, I didn't really say anything, I just took out a small box of takeout ramen I had been saving and started eating quietly.
But then... "So, you like Chinese takeout?" June said (she looked unenthusiastic at the time). "Uh yeah. Do you?" I said, almost choking on my ramen. "I've only tried the soup they make there sometimes." June said as she put her knees against her chest. "What's on your mind?" I asked. "Nothing, just that my friends ditched me... I didn't get anything to eat... As a result." June said, followed by a low grumble from her stomach, on cue. I offered my ramen to her; "We could be friends." I said.
