We had been on the road for minutes, hours, or seconds. Complete silence filled the car, but there was still the wind and dust blowing against our windows and over the slightly torn and rusty roof.

I couldn't tell if Royal was mad at me, or if Court was mad at me. Or maybe they were both mad at me. Nonetheless, I was freaking out. I couldn't exactly handle the situation on my own, but all I had to do was survive in the passenger seat, next to Court, thank God, for a little longer until he found the place he was driving us towards.

In the backseat, Royal had fallen asleep. I'm pretty glad he's not snoring, because no one would want to deal with that. Snoring is not the most favored radio channel.

"So," Court tried to start conversation to cut the silence. "How you doing?"

I nodded my head awkwardly. "Um, pretty good."

He pursed his lips. "That's good. I'm doing fine myself."

Royal suddenly joined the conversation. "You two are like an old people couple, just kiss already." A tinge of jealousy played in his words.

"And what if we did?" Court challenged.

"I would punch you." Royal replied flatly.

"I guess I'm getting punched today." Court teased.

"If you kiss her and you don't mean it, I'm murdering you. Even if you are my brother."

The conversation was starting to get out of hand, so I jumped in with, "wait, you guys are brothers?"

Royal leaned in between the seats, the two of them staring at me with a look of disbelief. "Did you just figure that out?" They said in unison.

I bit my lip. At least I got them off the topic of who would get to kiss me, right? "Maybe?"

Royal chuckled. "I can't believe you."

Court sped up the car, a mound of desert appearing on the horizon. "Neither can I." The speedometer on the old Trans Am neared the hundreds. Court's hands gripped tightly onto the steering wheel as he shouted over the wind, "hold onto something!" Royal latched onto his seat belt and the car door. I grabbed my sides and my seat belt.

Suddenly, we skidded to an anticipated stop. Court had smashed his foot down onto the gas pedal, and now were in the middle of all the mounds I had seen on the horizon seconds ago. Court stepped out of the car and started walking towards a certain mound, Royal following his steps in the sand. I, on the other hand, waited in the car impatiently.

"Hey, get over here!" One of the brothers shouted.

Since there was probably no escaping them, I gave in without a fight and trudged through the sand towards the duo.

"Follow us," Royal gestured.

I furrowed my brow. "Follow you where? Into the middle of a sand hill? No, thank you."

"Oh, just you wait," Court smirked.

Instead of waiting for them to do whatever crazy mojo they were about to do, I stared off towards nothing. But, out of the blue, I heard a door creak.

"Who's she?" A voice said.
