Ch.23

“So you're married now,” Ginny said as I helped her dust off one of the bedrooms, the two of us pretty much not doing anything as I sent off spells that tidied up the room.

“Yeah,” I told her, a small smile on my face as I turned to look at her.

“And are you actually happy about it or are you just pretending for my brother?”

“I'm happy Ginny, even though this isn't exactly how I planned everything going.” I told her. She sat down on the edge of the bed and studied me for a second.

“My brother seems to be happy about it too, so I guess I'm happy for the two of you as well,” she said hesitantly. “I'm sorry about us demanding you tell us everything about the rumors we had heard about you. It wasn't right, I'm sure that you'd tell us everything when you felt comfortable in doing so.”

“It's fine Ginny, I'm used to it by now. Sometimes people automatically assume that you're the bad guy even when you're not and sometimes it turns out that that person actually knows more than they realize. I'll admit I'm not the best person Ginny, but that doesn't mean that I would ever hurt Charlie. I wouldn't hurt someone unless they were trying to hurt me or the people I care about,” I explained, sitting down next to her. “I would never hurt you or your family, Ginny, but I can understand why you thought that.”

“Are the Dagger Dragons actually real?” Ginny asked. “You've never actually answered that.”

“And most likely I never will. If I told you anything, you might end up becoming a target and I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone.”

“Does that mean Charlie' a target?”

I paused for a second, trying to think of a way to respond. “Trust me, Ginny, he knows how to handle himself. Besides, he has a lot of people that will make sure that he's safe, you don't have to worry about that.”

She seemed as if she wanted to say something else about the topic but decided against it, instead she got to her feet. “We should probably go downstairs, it's almost time for dinner and you have the meeting afterward.”

“We're starting it tonight?”

“Yeah, my mum already gave us the talk about not interrupting the meeting or trying to listen in.” She said with a roll of her eyes. “Of course we all know that since she told Fred and George that, they're going to do the exact opposite.”

I couldn't help but agree with her, if you told them to not do something, that was probably what they were going to try to do.

“Hey,” Charlie said, coming over to me and Ginny. “I was just about to go get the two of you, dinner's ready.” He grabbed my hand and pulled me over to a seat next to him. Ginny claimed the other seat next to me and we all settled down to eat.
