Ch.2

“I can't believe it's taking you two this long to get ready.” Demetrius said with a sigh, watching as Sil and I rushed around the room trying to finish our hair and makeup.

“Can you just shut up, you're too impatient.” Sil finished pinning up her hair and turned to him with her hands on her hips.

“Besides Dem, if we're a little late we can make a bigger entrance.” I glanced in the mirror, looking myself over to make sure everything was perfect.

I wore a blush colored strapless gown. Along the top and bust line were sequins while it became fuller near the bottom. The bottom of the gown was covered in fabric flowers and flowed out when I spun. I had my blond hair half up and down and it fell in curls. Silvia had on a red mermaid style dress and had her dark brown hair up in a bun. Both of us carried a clutch which had an endless charm on it.

“Yep, there's no problem with being fashionably late.” Sil clipped on a necklace before pulling me away from the mirror and toward the door.

Just a little while later we were at the entrance to a large mansion where the fundraiser was taking place. We slipped into the event easily with the invitations my brother had gotten first. Demetrius his arms linked onto both Sil and I as we entered the room, gaining some attention considering we had arrived late.

“Okay girls, time to get this over with. Sil, you know your job. Liz and I will look and keep an eye for any one undercover. Be careful,” he muttered under his breath before Sil shot us a smirk and slipped off into the crowd.

“As much as I love dressing up for these things, I really hate the mingling part,” I said, making sure to keep my scowl hidden and instead placing on a fake flirty smile.

“I don't know, I can't help but enjoy that part too,” Demetrius sent a wink toward a girl that looked slightly younger than himself. She had black hair that was piled up into a bun. As soon as she realized who he was looking at, she blushed bright red and turned back to her conversation with her friend.

“You're ridiculous,” this only caused the smirk on his face to grow. Dem grabbed two glasses of champagne from a passing waiter and handed me one.

“Show time,” he said, discretely nodding toward where Sil was making her move. The target seemed to be buying it and was flirting right back.

“I'll see you soon then. Disarm any guard you see and please keep the flirting to a minimum,” I said before turning and walking off into the crowd. I was careful to avoid huge groups of people, while still looking for any guards.

To be honest it seemed that our target, Mr. Hunterson had gone light on security. At least that's what I thought until I noticed someone sipping a scotch while glancing around the crowd as well, his gaze always returning to where Sil and our target were dancing. When I looked closely I could just make out a emblem that was enchanted onto his skin. It was a circle with a z in the middle of it, which meant he was part of an extremely powerful security system.

Taking a breath I slightly opened my clutch and walked over to him, knocking into his arm slightly I managed to cause him to spill his scotch on his suit jacket.

“Oh, I'm am so sorry, I'm so clumsy.” I grabbed a tissue from my bag and acted as if I was trying to help, with him muttering he was perfectly fine the whole time. As I rubbed at the stain I quickly pick-pocketed his wand and placed it into my purse before he could pull away.

“It's perfectly fine ma'am. I should be going anyway.” he gave me a clearly forced friendly smile before disappearing once again, his gaze returning once again to the couple that was inching closer to the exit.
