Operation 7: Worth It

Your (h/c) locks flow wildly behind you and your eyes water from the harsh wind. The ground increases its size as you fall closer and closer.

Shoot. Shoot! You grip your two triggers with your life. This one shoots the wires and this one shoots gas. You just aim at the edge of the thing you want to maneuver to, right?

Shaking your head, you extend your arms up, and with a sharp breath, you slam your two pointer fingers on the grappling button.

You hear a zipper like sound and you look up seeing the two grappling wires dart toward the building. A small wave of fear washes over you when you wonder just how much wire your gear holds. 'Clink!' That was the satisfying sound you prayed to hear--the sound of the grappling hook latching into the building.

After what it seemed like you were just hovering in the air, you get snapped forward, your head getting thrown back. "Crap!" You hiss, pulling your head forward. Pressing the gas button, the fumes of gas hiss behind you, allowing you to fly forward more smoothly.

Reaching the building's height, you swoop upward as if a bird finally airborne. Releasing the grappling button, the wires once latched onto the building quickly retract and disappear back into the two triggers. You press the said button again, now having the hooks latch onto the smooth roof of the building instead of the edge of the building.

Flying toward the building, your eyes widen slightly.

How do I land?

Your feet slam onto the roof, then they lose their grip and you, on instinct, curl up into a ball, taking the hard impact on your back. Rolling forward, you slam your foot down, it acting like the breaks. "Holy crap! That was awesome!" You laugh, standing up.

Looking over at Levi who is looking at the flickering city lights, you walk over to him. "Hey," you rest your hand on your hip. "Did I do good?"
"No. You used too much of your gas, you wasted time sky diving... and--" He pauses, noticing how you bow your head in shame. "But... For the most part, you did good." Levi sighs through his nose, returning his eyes to the lights.
"Really? Haha!" You punch the air victoriously.

You hum, jerking your chin up with pride. "By the way, I'm alive! My heart is beating much faster than it should be, a few skids here and there, and I'm pretty sure my triggers are now broken due to my grip on them, but I'm friggin' alive!" You grin, expecting some acknowledgment from Levi, but you get nothing.

Shouldn't he be excited to have a new partner that has (for the most part) mastered 3DM gear? I surpassed his former partner! Shouldn't he at least smirk in approval despite his nonchalant facade? You think, then you mentally kick yourself. Why should he? Levi doesn't like me, he doesn't like my natural cocky attitude, and me wanting praise doesn't help. I haven't really shown him that he can trust me and actually work with me. Why should Levi praise me AND be excited to work with me?

Your grin fades and you sigh. "Levi, I... I swear I'm worth being your partner. I'll prove it to you in more ways you can ever imagine, j-just um, not yet." You look down at the ground. Levi turns to you with a firm look.
"That 'yet' better come soon. My height isn't the only thing that's short," his eyes then look off to the side, his brows furrowing with distaste as he said he was short.
"I promise it will! I just need some time, practice, and--maybe a sandwich." You mutter the last part as if suggesting it to yourself.

Levi side-glances at you once you look at the city lights. His eyes examine your facial features: the way your lips naturally curve upwards in a calm smile, the form of your nose, and how your eyes are soft, the reflection of the lights gleaming in your pupils.

Subconsciously, the tips of Levi's lips curve upwards in a smirk.
"Y'know, we should get back to HQ before Hanji kicks our butts for being out without permission." You say, turning to Levi.

Automatically, Levi's lips droop and he mutters, "Yeah, I don't want to hear about the story of how Four-Eyes created the name T.I.T.A.N. for our organization." He turns and starts walking across the building.
"Oh yeah! What does it stand for?"
"Nothing. It just took a heck of a long time for Hanji to think up a name like T.I.T.A.N." Levi huffs, taking out his triggers.
"Oh. Well, I think it sounds pretty cool." You shrug.
"That's just you," Levi clicks his tongue and shoots his wires to the closest building. You chuckle, taking out your triggers as well.

Pushing down on the grappling button, you were off.

Author's Note: The fluff is strong in this one.

This was my very first time describing the movements of the gear. So, I'm a little new to it but I'll get better.

Btw, all you readers, I really do appreciate comments and criticism. I write books on here to get good notes on what to do better! So if you don't mind, just crawl out of your turtle shells and type a few words of encouragement and/or criticism? Thank you! :))))

I haven't described the gear so I need to now. There's no blade holders on your hips, but there's two gas containers. The part where the gas blows out is the same too. I hope you guys are good with this. :)

'Til next time!
