Part 26

Aaron's POV

I was making our lunch, ready for the picnic when I saw Robert pacing up and down in the living room. "You alright?" I asked looking at him. Something was obviously on his mind. "Yeah, I'm fine. Do you need any help with the food?" He asked me. "Nah, I'm good. You look really stressed, Rob" I pointed out, and he nodded. "Just one of those days, that's all" He replied, and I knew it was something more, but I didn't want to bother him too much, so I nodded and smiled at him. I'd finished preparing lunch, and I put everything in a thermal bag that was in the basket. "Ready to go?" Robert asked me, rubbing his hands. "Yeah- Robert, are you ill? You're sweating" I pointed out, and he shook his head. "No, just nervous on what I'm going to do later, one outcome is good but will make me look like a tool for worrying and the other one is awkward as fuck" he rambled. I touched his arm supportively, and said "I'm sure you'll do great at whatever you're worrying about", smiling at him. He seemed to relax a bit, and we got in my car and drove along until we found a nice, quiet field where we wouldn't be disturbed. We got out, and walked over to the field, and Robert lay the blanket down. We sat down, and we ate our food. It was a nice day, it was warm, but not too warm, and we were both in a good mood. Well, except for Robert being really nervous.

Robert's POV

I was really nervous. I was going to do this. Was this too early? I hope not, I really hope not. I could possibly ruin my beautiful relationship with Aaron. I could also make him really happy, I'm not sure how he's going to react. Aaron was happily eating a slice of cake, when I got him to stand up. "I hope to god I'm not going to be a tool right now" I said, and Aaron looked at me, confused. I got down on one knee. "Aaron, you're the most amazing person I've ever met. You're the one that turned my life around. Every day, I always feel lucky to wake up next to you, to be able to hug and kiss you, to be with you. I'm not exaggerating, seriously I always wonder how you put up with me" I said, with a slight chuckle. Aaron couldn't help but smile, and then cover his mouth. "I actually don't know what I'd do without you, I'd be a complete mess. I know we don't always agree on everything, and I just want to spend the rest of my life with you, so, Aaron Livesy, will you marry me?" I continued, and opened the ring box. He let down his hand, and nodded. "Of course I will!" Aaron exclaimed, crying with happiness. I put the ring on his finger, and picked him up, spinning him round. Letting Aaron down, we lay on the blanket, Aaron resting his head on my chest and my arm around him. "So is this what you've been worrying about?" He asked, giggling. "Yeah, I couldn't help it" I replied, and added "Also, your mum called dibs on giving you away, so Paddy can't do it", making Aaron laugh more. "Wait...that's why we were getting free drinks last week!" He yelled, and I laughed. "Yeah, your mum even gave me permission" I stated, and Aaron replied "Wow, that's a surprise".

Aaron's POV

How could Robert not know I'd say yes? Oh well, I couldn't actually wait to tell my mum...how excited would Vic be? I'm probably going to get hugged to death, great. Wouldn't mind being hugged to death by Robert though...my phone went off, distracting me from my thoughts. It was a text from my mum, that read "WHERE ARE YOU? Vic's got news on her baby!". I sighed, and said "We need to get back, my mum might call out a search team soon", and Robert sighed too. "Beat go before she gets in trouble for wasting police time" Robert joked, making me laugh. We packed the stuff away, and walked down to my car, got in, and drove back home. "I think it's a new scan picture" Robert said, and I nodded. "Probably. My mum made it out as if someone's gone missing" I pointed out, making Robert giggle. We parked my car at home, and put the basket in the kitchen, before walking to the pub together. "Should we tell everyone after Vic's news?" Robert asked, and I nodded. We walked in, and Vic instantly hugged the two of us. "I got a new scan picture!!" She squealed, making us laugh. She showed Robert, and then me. "I can't wait!" We both exclaimed at the same time, making us laugh. "Awwww aren't you two cute?" She asked, grinning. Robert replied with "You're gonna be surprised in a minute", leaving Vic confused. "I'll get Diane, and Adam, you get your family round" Robert said, as he got out his phone calling them. I got my phone out too, and called Lisa, Cain whilst I asked my mum if she'd call the rest of them. Also confused, she called them, explaining that I had big news. Robert came back, and put his phone in his pocket. "Nervous?" He asked, and I replied "Extremely", before giving him a quick kiss and walking through to the back room, and waited for people to arrive.

Robert's POV

"What's your big news?" Moira asked us, and Aaron took a big breath before saying "Well, me and Robert are going to get married", quickly, and the both of us got crushed with hugs. Everyone let go, except for Vic of course. She started jumping up and down in excitement, and just squealed because she couldn't say anything else. "Awww my boy's going to get married!" Chas yelled, giving Aaron another hug, making him laugh nervously. "Mum- you're crushing me" Aaron grunted, and she let go. "So, when did this happen?" Adam asked. "Er, like 20 minutes ago" Aaron replied. I couldn't do anything but look at Aaron in awe. I didn't think anyone would notice, until I heard a camera and Vic say "awwww" again. A few seconds later, my phone buzzed. A picture from Vic. "You have to stop doing this, there's just a random collection of pictures of me and Aaron on there" I said, shaking my head at Vic and laughing at the same time. I have to admit, her photography skills are decent, and she'd caught Aaron with a great smile on his face, and me looking at him and smiling. "Yeah, got a whole album just of you two haven't I?" Vic asked sarcastically. Aaron didn't pick up the sarcasm, and looked up at her with a worried and confused look on his face. "I'm only joking!" She said, laughing, and we both laughed too.
