It started with a van in the driveway next to Liam's house. It wasn't a van Liam recognized, and the old woman who used to live there had been taken away in an ambulance months prior to that, so he assumed she had died and this family had bought the house. Liam's first thought was to go greet the family, but he wasn't sure what kind of people he was dealing with. So instead of heading out like he usually would, Liam sat by his window and watched. He had a bad encounter a few years back. The family hadn't been as nice as Liam had hoped they would've been. He was still watching the family when his phone rang.

"Liam there's a new family," his friend, Niall, said from the other line. Niall lived across the street from Liam. They had been friends ever since they accidentally got drunk together at a party.

"I'm watching them," Liam replied. "Have you seen the kid?" Every few minutes Liam would see a boy walk around the car, but he couldn't make out the boys appearance.

"Looks about our age," Niall said. "Red hoodie is plain. No logos."

"Okay. Should I come over and see if I can get a better look?" Liam asked. Niall was silent for a moment as he weighed their options.

"Yeah, okay. That sounds like a good idea." Niall hung up the phone. Liam left a note for his parents on the kitchen table before he left his house.

Outside, the summer air was hot. Liam tried not to stare at the boy as he passed by but it was hard when 1, he was gay and 2, the boy was beautiful. Whoever he was, Liam was glad he moved in next door. His gay little heart was getting excited by the time he reached Niall's house.

"He's hot," Liam said, pushing into the house. "Like not in a way most people would find people hot. But like - damn."

Niall looked out his open door, towards the house.

"Do you think we should go say hi?" He asked. "Or is it too early to decide?"

Liam thought for a moment. Harry crossed his mind but he shook those thoughts away. it was time for him to move on.

"I think we should."

They set out.
