Chapter 9: The explanation

Kanoji sees himself at the age 16 walking in a forest, towards a house, holding a basket with friuts. As he gets closer to the house, the trees opening up, he sees the house burst into flames, Kanoji drops the basket and runs towards the house, but gets stopped by the sight of a man looking at him and saying not to come and smiles, before long the man gets executed and Kanoji drops to his knees shouting out of despair and the men who killed the man start going after Kanoji, he tries to run, but falls to the ground, unable to move and then one of the men comes forward to Kanoji, holding a knife, dressed all black with red stripes on his chest and starts slowly cutting Kanoji. Kanoji opens his eyes - it was just a dream, but he asks himself - "Who...was that?", he looks around confused and sees that he is in a cave laying down on some clothes he hears someone walking up behind him and he yells - "Who's there?" the man walks up to Kanoji's side and says - "So you've finnaly waken up?" and Kanoji sees that the man is none other than Kyshimo. Kyshimo asks - "How's your leg?" Kanoji remembers and looks at his leg - it's fine but he sees a metal block and asks - "What's that?" Kyshimo says - "That's the thing that was in your leg, it's still expanding". Kanoji asks - "Why are we in this cave?" Kyshimo anwsers - "Well, first off it's a storm outside and second, you were injured so you would have died" Kyshimo was waiting for a "thank you" but he never got it. Kyshimo - "Well, by the look of things, the storm isn't ending soon... So, anyway why are you so tense?" Kanoji asks - "Who is the Doctor?" Kyshimo - "The Doctor... That's the name I never wanted you to hear... He is the one that led the group of scientists that experimented on people...and...well.."made" the freaks" Kanoji doesn't say a word. Kyshimo breaks the silence - "Well, we should get a fire started" Kanoji still doesn't say a word. Kyshimo starts a fire and Kanoji finally asks - "Where did you get the wood from, It's a storm outside" Kyshimo explains - "I gathered it before coming here, I had a feeling that a storm was coming" as the fire starts burning Kanoji looks into it and gets a flashback of the same house he saw in his dream, he drops to the ground, holding his head, screaming with pain and finally calms down. Kyshimo asks - "Are you okay? What just happened to you?" Kanoji just says - "I'm fine, just got a headache, maybe from all the blood loss" Kyshimo - "Okay...so, why don't you tell me why did you ran away from our base?" Kanoji - "I was scared..." Kyshimo - "Scared? of what? You beat the best fighter we had with no sweat" Kanoji - "I was scared...of...myself" Kyshimo - "Yourself?" Kanoji explains - "When I took the sword it was odd, like I had held a sword before, but the sword was unusual and when I cut Arashis arm it felt like I had done it before..." Kyshimo now has a slight smile on his face and asks - "Would you rather have a knife then?" Kanoji - "I don't know" Kyshimo - "Then, do you a double-handed weapon?" Kanoji - "I don't...know" Kyshimo asks again - "Did you want to kill Arashi then and there?" Kanoji - "Why are you asking me this? You know something about my past don't you?" Kyshimo - "How could I know? Don't be silly, Kanoji" Kanoji knew that Kyshimo was hiding something from him and just said - "I'm gonna go sleep wake me up when the storm ends" Kyshimo - "Sure thing" Kanoji lies down on his left side facing away from Kyshimo. About half an hour later Kyshimo gets a call, but Kanoji wasn't sleeping, he was trying to put the pieces of his memory together and heard Kyshimos conversation. Kyshimo picks up the phone and says - "Yes? Yeah I got him with me" Kanoji couldn't hear who was Kyshimo talking to, or what he was saying. He just heard Kyshimo say - "If he doesn't come back well... I can kill him right here...understood" Kyshimo was shocked but rhat conversation proved that Kanoji was too valuable to let go, so he decided to get his memory back and just try to survive in their base, while also training to get stronger. Kyshimo says to Kanoji - "Wake up, the strom ended let's get back to base" Kanoji pretends to wake up and says - "Yeah.." Kyshimo - "Did you sleep well, did I wake you up?" Kanoji knew that this was a test to find out if Kanoji heard his coneversation, he knew if he said "no" Kyshimo would know he was lying, so Kanoji said - "I had a weird dream" trying to change the subject. Kyshimo asked - "What was it about?" Kanoji - "It was about me being little and playing with a dog" Kyshimo - "Why was it weird?" Kanoji - "Well...I...I...was playing in the clouds" Kyshimo - "Fine, whatever let's get going" Kanoji takes a stick and leans on it to be able walk with his injured leg, and they leave the cave and head back to base.
