"Wow, so this Governor guy destroyed the prison you guys were staying at? What happened then?" I asked after listening to Daryl talk about how his group made it out of Atlanta, eyes filled with wonder as I took in everything they had gone through, all the people they lost. He chuckled softly at my enthusiasm before replying, but he was quickly cut off as the door opened to reveal Negan, who had a stern look plastered over his face.

My smile faded, and Daryl straightened up silently as Negan closed the door slightly behind him. He met my gaze, his dark eyes unreadable as he spoke up. "I'll be going out tonight. Thought I'd let you know. Just...don't fucking leave this room without tying him up first."

I nodded quickly, and he glanced over at Daryl briefly with a smirk. "Don't try anything stupid either; my men will fuck your shit up before you have a chance to say 'adios'." Daryl glared at him, earning a low chuckle in return as Negan turned to open the door. He looked to me one last time, threatening me silently with his eyes before stepping out of the room, and as the door shut I let out a deep breath.

"So did you have anyone...before running into him?" Daryl questioned after a long moment of silence, and I looked at him with a furrowed brow. "Not in the way I think you're meaning, but I did have family...friends," I replied softly biting my lip. He nodded slowly, taking in what I just said as he looked down. "I had a little brother..." I continued in a hushed whisper, and that comment seemed to spark something in him as his head shot up.

I forced out a smile and shrugged, "I'm glad he didn't live long enough to see me like this, it would have broken him." I stated softly, biting my lip as I waited for him to speak.

He stared at me for what seemed like ages before blinking, shaking his head with a sigh. "I'm sorry," was his only response, but I accepted it with a warm smile. I couldn't seem to understand why, but this man sitting before me had struck a chord in me, and all I wanted now was to know him.
