I stared in horror as my brother's body fell lifeless to the ground, eyes wide and filled with tears that had yet to fall. The man I now knew as Negan stepped forward, kneeling down in front of me with a solemn look in his eye. "You killed him...." I muttered low enough for only him to hear, and he clenched his jaw. "Technically, my men did-"
"You monster!" I cried out, pushing him away as I scooted back, and this seemed to only upset him. "Listen here, sweetheart. That thing over there broke your brother's skin when it scratched. He was infected even without being bit; I did you a fucking favor." he stated through gritted teeth, and I let out a humorless laugh. "How?"
He glared at me for a moment before responding, "By making it to where you didn't have to make the choice yourself." My eyes widened, realizing he was right. I never would have been able to do what his men just did, not to Jacob.
"Come on, you can head back with us. I'll take care of you...." he suggested, brushing hair out of my face as he held my gaze. I simply nodded, and he helped me up off the ground, leading me away from my brother's corpse.
"What are you thinking about?" Negan's question snapped me out of my thoughts, and I looked over at him as he pulled the blankets over us. I shook my head slowly, "Nothing important....just old memories." He looked me in the eye, holding my gaze for a moment before accepting my answer, planting a soft kiss to my bare shoulder. "You seemed out of it while we were screwing around a few minutes ago."
I sighed, shivering at his touch as I placed my hand over his. I knew he had grown to care for me, but how much was always the question, yet I didn't mind....too much at least."I'm fine....I'll make it up to you later." I promised softly and he nodded against my shoulder. He mumbled a quick 'good night' before drifting off, and I spent the rest of the night silently crying in his arms.
