Fast forward to lunch, I sat alone. I brought my headphones so I could listen to music, but I didn't put them on. I still thought that someone would sit next to me. Someone didn't sit next to me, but they stood in front of me. "Why were you staring at me during class?"
Crap. It had to be her. "I'm sorry," I quickly apologized, "I zoned out and I didn't mean to stare."
She squinted as if examining me. "I guess I believe you...." She then turned around and started to leave.
"Wait!" I called out. She whirled around.
"Yes?"
"Er, what's your name?" I stammered.
"Peridot." She said and left.
I stared at her back as she left. Peridot. Her name was as unique as her clothes. Dressed in all green with a gold diamond pendant around her neck, she really stood out.
I watched her walk back to her table where she sat alone. I prepped myself to walk over and sit next to her, but just as I stood up, a tall muscly girl sat next to her. She wrapped her arm around Peridot and started to talk to her. Was I exploding with jealousy? Yes. Was I going to do anything but sit and watch them together? No. I stared at the table as I ate, every once and a while glancing at Peridot and the other girl.
