HAZARD DISTRICT

1st Chapter

It was a reasonably normal day in South East London. The scene represented that of calm and subtlety. Eventually, loud, uptempo music was blaring out of a car that was speeding to a building. Pedestrians appeared unimpressed as the car pulled up in front of a youth centre. Four, sinister appearing young men stepped out of the car and marched into the youth centre.

Inside, the place appeared rowdy with unruly youths roaming around. The four youths took a seat.

'This shit is dumb. Why the fuck are we here? Back here?' The first teen growled as he folded his arms in frustration

'It's either this or bin. Fuck going to bin, or jail, or big man prison, or whatever people are calling that shithole' The second teen replied as he opened a bottle of Coke to drink

'Oh my days, but all I did was jack a couple sweets' The third teen declared in an angered tone 'Why are we back here? I thought I left this dump time ago, man'

'Well it's this fucked up thing we call a government trying to keep us down by exaggerating shit all the time' The fourth and final teen replied as he was composing a text message on his phone.

'The fuck are you talking about? All I know is this shit better not waste my time, my cousin is coming down and we need to handle business' The first teen declared. Soon afterwards, an attractive woman with files approached the boys. It was a youth worker. Her name was Elisha Robinson. She projected confidence in a mesmerising way. The teenagers were gobsmacked

'Welcome back Jamal, Kenny, Sean and Aaron' Elisha smiled

'Elisha, is that you? You've changed' The first teenager, who was Jamal, declared

'Me? No I don't think I have' Elisha declared 'Has it really been that long of a summer for you to forget how I look like'?

'Elisha, you've changed. I mean, you were hot before but best believe you're boiling now' The second teenager, Kenny laughed. The other teens then laughed and blew dog whistles. Elisha smiled

'Guys, come on now we need to discuss matters' she brought a chair forward to talk to them 'Now listen. You guys are what, 15, 16 years old? I'm not that much older than you, i'm 21. Do not become a statistic. You guys have so much to live for, i'm begging you to realise soon enough. You can't be a wasted opportunity to succeed and become big in life'

'Elisha, it's easier said than done, trust me' The third teenager, Kenny, replied 'I mean we ain't in no gangs or nothing, but life is flipping HARD. I'm 16, got a baby on the way, which I ain't proud of but what can a man do? Got no job, no money, ain't doing shit 'cause of my past, people ain't really giving me a chance"

'I agree that is completely unfair' Elisha begun 'Don't let other people's narrow minds be the death of you. Only you guys can make a good change in your life. It might sound cliche and whatnot but regardless of your background or history, you can do anything you set your mind to'

'Easier said than done to be honest'  Jamal declared 'But Elisha you always give us a chance, but shit, we can't help but do the things we do'

'That's why you're still here, Jamal. Stuff like this cannot be mended overnight' Elisha replied. Elisha then spots her friend, of Sri Lankan ancestry, outside through the window. Elisha then turns back around with a smile to the young teenagers 'Boys, what I would like for you to do is take a breather for the moment, I need to sort out some things'

'Nice one, Elisha. Take it easy' Kenny grinned. Elisha then rose out of her seat and walked toward the door. Jamal then slapped Kenny across the back of his head 'What the fuck was that for?'
