Numb.

That's all Dan felt. He felt like he has failed his brother. he shouldn't blame himself but he does. He was supposed to protect his brother from his dad. Now here he is standing in front of a casket that held his best friend;his little brother, Kellin Howell. a poor 8 year old that has killed himself instead of walking on more day on this horrible earth with his father.

As the rain fell, and the casket was being lowered, Dan looked over at his parents. His family was in tears and so was his dad. Why his dad? he questioned. His dad caused this, he doesn't deserve to cry.

Dan could not stop crying throughout the service. He paid attention once he heard the priest speak, "Let us commend Kellin to the mercy of God, May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. May the rain fall softly upon your fields until we meet again, And may God hold you in the hollow of his hand."

Everyone staring at the whole in the ground that holds a lifeless kellin.

"We therefore commit his body to the ground; earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust; in the sure and certain hope of the Resurrection to eternal life."

After the service, Dan couldn't go home. he couldn't face the man that pretty much killed his brother, so he went to the only person he could trust;Phil. He walked up the steps that leads to Phil's front door and quietly knocked, scared he was intruding.

Not even a minute later Phil opens the door, "Dan?" and when Dan looked up at Phil with tears streaming his face, he immediately grabbed dan and pulled him into his arms. Dan held on for dear life as if he was going to loose Phil too.

"he is gone Phil, He's gone!" Dan sobbed into Phil's chest and Phil didn't stop him. He knew Dan needed him, and he wasn't planning on leaving Dan, ever.
