Everyone knew that when the alarms went off they had five minutes to get behind a door before everything locked down. Obviously no one had explained this to Winter, whom had been sitting on the ground covering her ears because of the alarm. Taran turned from the Razor Demon in front of him and ran in the opposite direction. She was running just as fast as he was, trying to escape the long hall. Once at the opposite end of the hall they took a sharp left and ran to the large double doors at the end.
Taran fists beat into the door as he glanced over his shoulders. After the third bang, a key pad sprang out from the wall to their left. Winter was tugging at his sleeve as Taran tried to remember the password.
"Stop, I can't think when you do that!" he yelled at her and he heard her voice over the alarm- "They're coming! Hurry those things are coming!"
Taran looked down the hall and saw there was nothing. Before he could turn back to the key pad he saw the Razor Demon round the corner in a rush, sliding across the floor and hitting the wall. Taran pushed several buttons on the pad and it beeped red. He looked back over at the Razor Demon as it gained its composure and moved again in a rush towards them. Taran pushed a few more buttons and suddenly a door opened in the wall next to the key pad. Taran grabbed for Winter as the Razor Demon made a leap in mid run towards her.
His fingers curled around her arm and he pulled her out of the way in time for the double doors behind her to swing open. The Razor Demon that had been inches away went right past them and fell to his death on the jagged rocks below the cliffs.
"Hurry up the stairs." Taran said to Winter as the door slid shut behind them.
"What was that thing?"
"It's called a Razor Demon, they're vicious. I think that's the worst Demon in the entire World, even worse than the Demon King himself."
Winter shivered, "There are more coming, they can smell us through the wall."
There was a loud bang on the door in front of them and the wall dented.
"How do you know all this?"
"I'm not sure, it just started happening, I can smell them too; it's like Death."
"Move, up the stairs, quickly." Taran was saying pushing her up the stairs as there was another loud bang on the door behind them.
He could smell the fresh night air as he opened a hatch and stepped out of a giant boulder sitting in the middle of the wheat field. He helped Winter out as the last bang sounded and there was a screech. He slammed the door shut and grabbed Winter by the arm. "We have to keep moving, they'll be able to smell us for another two miles."
They ran through the wheat field and then into a dense forest. "Where are we going?" Winter asked as they began to slow down.
"The only place I know is safe." He replied.

The black crow, Oleander, watched as the man known as Taran was dragging the Winter girl through the wheat fields. He flapped his wings and jumped from his perch atop the tree on the side of the cliff, gliding on the wind currents towards them both. Once they made it to the forest it was much less flying for Oleander as it was jumping from branch to branch. Finally, Taran stopped for a moment beside a great oak tree to let Winter rest. She was breathing heavily and bent over to place her hands on her knees.
"Where is this place at?" she was asking, as she took what sounded like deep, wounded, breaths.
Taran looked at her, "Were close, it's about four more miles from here."
