(The Doctor gave one of his hearts to save Nathan)

A spaceship came to Alpar Nok, it was the Daleks. "Exterminate!" And that's when the war began. It went on for years....

"Nathan! What happened to your leg?!" Samantha asked, looking at Nathan's bloody leg.

"Got caught in a trap, it hurts like hell," Nathan admitted, "How's Alex?"

"He got an A on his math test," Samantha answered as she got out some rags to tend to his wound. "I'm afraid you're going to have to get this leg amputated honey."

"I was afraid of that," Nathan sighs.

Later at the hospital....

Nathan lays in the hospital bed as his prosthetic leg is installed. I'm lucky to be alive....

"I need to go back to battle Samantha, I'm sorry."

"Nathan you've been fighting for 10 years, how much longer will you fight?"

"As long as they need me. I'm the leader of the Greenwood battalion I can't just quit, my men depend on me."

"Frederick, ALan, Frank, cover the southwest flank, Bob, Ted , and I will cover the north!" Nathan commanded.

Shots came from both sides, Nathan's Battalion was one of the last left. "OWWW!" "Nathan Frank is down!" Bob shouted.

A tear ran down Nathan's face, the daleks were relentless, but were being gunned down by cybermen.

Suddenly Nathan felt a burning pain in his chest. "Ow...," he cringed as he fell over onto the ground.

*** Everything went black***

"Nathan, Wake up honey, the war is over," Samantha said softly.

Nathan slowly gets up and feels a sharp pain in his chest. "What happened?"

"You got shot."

"How's Alex?"

"He misses you," She says, spinning her wedding ring on her finger.

"I bet he does, when am I getting out of here?"

"Soon, Nathan?"

"Yes? What's wrong?"

"Alex has leukemia," she says sadly.

"I see, may I see him?"

A 10 year old boy rolls into the room in a wheelchair, with an iv attached to him. He had blonde hair and his father's blue eyes. "Hey dad."

"Alex... You look tired," Nathan said, looking with sad eyes at his weak-looking son.

"I feel tired, how's the leg?"

"Gone...," He uncovers his prosthetic leg. "Hurts like hell."

"I don't feel good..."

"I know son, you can fight this," Nathan says with hope in his voice.

"Thanks dad," Alex says, before wheeling out of the room.

"He has a 26% 5 year survival rate... How bad is he?" Nathan asks.

Samantha tears up, "He's in the later stages..., he'll be lucky if he makes it more than a year."

He sighs. "I don't want to lose him..."

"I know, I feel the same way honey," Samantha responded.

Weeks later Nathan and Alex went home.
