The plane ride lasted a few hours due to the storm they had to navigate through. While his brother and the rest of the passengers slept, Prussia found himself awake as sleep alluded him. He watched the lightening strike past the plane in the distance as the pilot tried to avoid it, he even enjoyed the boom of thunder, but they were too high to get hit with the rain. Eventually, they reached the airport in Italy.
The co-pilot announced through the speakers that they would be landing in roughly 15 minutes, and half the passengers were already awake. Prussia removed his headphones and turned off the music, wrapping it up and placing it in his pocket. He then reached over and tapped his younger sleeping brother repeatedly on the shoulder. After a little head bobbing and mumbling, the German blinked awake.
"We'll be there in like, 10 minutes." Prussia informed, leaning back in his seat to pull on his seatbelt. Germany nodded and did the same, yawning.
"Well," he mumbled, glancing at Prussia, "ready to see the Italian brothers and the rest of the countries?" Prussia chuckled a little quietly before nodding. At every world meeting something interesting happened, and it was always hilarious and a lot of fun even if his brother got terribly annoyed.
Minutes passed and the plane eased onto the runway, skidding to a stop. The passengers gathered their things as the plane was opened. Prussia and Germany followed the other humans off the plane and towards the Italian airport, where they could already see the small man jumping and waving like a mad man. His curl bounced around in the wind and his blue uniform was an obvious giveaway.
Germany grinned and Prussia noticed his pace pick up. Prussia rolled his eyes but smiled, following quickly after his brother. Italy was already running towards them and nearly tackled Germany in a hug as they entered the airport building. After talking about a mile a minute Italy finally noticed the albino standing beside Germany. He released the German and spun to face Prussia, grabbing both of his hands and yanking him a little closer.
"Ciao!" He shouted, jumping up and down before leaping in the Prussian's arms in a hug. "Hi Prussia~! It's been a long time, yes?" Prussia couldn't help but grin and hug the small Italian back before placing him on his feet. Italy beemed and Prussia nodded.
"Sure has," he grinned over at his brother, "but thank West for letting me." Italy turned and wrapped his arms around Germany's large neck, startling the man. He smiled happily and and placed a small, innocent kiss on his cheek. Germany flustered when the small Italian let go and started skipping to his car.
"Let's go guys! This way!" He cooed, opening the passenger door to his car. Prussia winked at his blushed brother and walked past, hopping in the open door. Italy ran around and flopped into the driver's and started the car. The roar of the engine caused the frozen German to blink back to reality and he quickly jogged over, growling at his older brother for sitting in the front, and squeezed into the back.
"I'll take you guys out to eat in the bestest Italian restaurant we have in the city! Then I can take you to the hotel all the nations are staying in for the meetings tomorrow! It'll be so much fun! I can't wait! Hey remember when-" Italy ranted the entire ride to the small Italian restaurant, and even though it wasn't about him, Prussia found himself listening and responding. He enjoyed the company and the high spirits of the small nation, and wished Italy would never change.
Even when he was gone.
They circled around and pulled into an open space, Italy still on overdrive with the talking. As they walked up to the restaurant, Germany grabbed the door and swung it open for the Italian and his brother. However, before Prussia had the chance to pass his brother, Germany tightly grabbed his collar and pulled him back. While Italy cheerfully spoke with the waiter on where they'd sit, Germany gently tugged his brother in the doorway and far enough from Italy where he wouldn't be heard.
"You're acting strange," Germany's suspicion was evident, "what are you planning?" Prussia raised an eyebrow at his brother's serious tone and shook his hand off his collar.
"Planning? I'm not planning anything--just trying to have some fun with the ones I haven't seen in a while." He responded simply. Germany narrowed his eyes for a moment, trying to decide motive, before shrugging.
"Alright I believe you. But don't go making a fool out of us, got it?" Prussia grinned innocently and rested a hand on his brother's firm shoulder.
"Oh bruder, sometimes you confuse me so!" Germany rolled his eyes and shook his brother's hand off just as Italy returned to the two."Alright! I got us a wonderful seat and--since well I'm Italy, the check is on me!" Germany chuckled softly and ruffled the smaller man's hair, then followed him as he led the German brothers to their booth seat at the far right corner of the restaurant. Germany took a seat on the right and Italy sat across from him on the left. Prussia was about to seat himself beside Italy before a sharp pain made itself noticeable in his chest.
He jolted slightly but kept his face neutral and barely moved to show the others anything was different; but Germany noticed right away.
"Bruder? Are you alright?" He questioned, rising from the cushioned booth. Prussia immediately forced his smirk back across his face and nodded, gently pushing his worried brother back into the seat.
"Of course I am, I'm awesome after all!" He beemed, the pain in his chest only increasing, "but I'll be right back, don't order without me!" With that, he spun around and quickly navigated through the people towards the bathroom before his brother or Italy had a chance to speak. Germany watched his brother disappear beyond the corner. He forced himself to relax due to Italy's presence and sat down, engaging in a conversation about pasta.
Italy hesitated for a moment before smiling and responding. He obviously knew something wasn't right then, but decided not to worry much since Germany seemed confident it was okay.
Prussia quickly walked in and glanced around. Thankfully, all the stalls and urinals were empty. He took this chance to lock the main door to the bathroom and walk in front of one of the fancy mirrors. He loosened his tie and drew off his jacket, setting it across one of the bar racks on the wall. He then unbuttoned his black collared shirt to reveal a pulsing wound over his heart. He touched it gently and winced; the cut had swelled. He knew he got it when he was dissolved, but it stopped hurting long ago. Why was it starting again?
A thought struck him; one that made his throat dry and his knees want to buckle.
Was this it? Was he going to disappear much faster than he thought? He couldn't--not yet. He wanted to die before but as the thought of it happening grew it felt all too real and he wasn't ready. He wasn't ready to leave the Italian brothers, Italy's cute little smile, he wasn't ready to leave his friends France or Spain, or the Awesome Trio with America and Denmark, he wasn't ready to leave his long ago buddies like Hungary and Austria--hell, he didn't even want to leave the bastard Russia that put him through so much pain (which Prussia can't really complain; considering what he did to Russia in their childhood....).
He wasn't ready to leave it all.
He wasn't ready to disappear.
He wasn't ready to die.
