I was thankful that it was Friday, because I was so ready for the weekend. Filled with comfy pajamas, the comfort of my own bed, Netflix, and junk food. Definition of a picture perfect weekend for me. Of course, I wasn't granted that wish.
I walk into the cafeteria and see a rather awkward scene. Julian was at the table that he usually sits at along with the football team and Shane. He was locking lips with a blonde girl. I walk over to the table that Mariah and the others were already seated at. Upon my approach, they all four look up at me at the same time and with worried looks veined on them. To say that I was confused and shocked, was an understatement. I wanted to ask them questions to see if they knew the answers. But, when I opened my mouth to speak, no words were uttered. Just dead air.
They all share a look and I look at them with furrowed eyebrows and then I glance back to the scene of Julian and the blonde girl practically making out.
"It's Audra," Shaylee tells me.
I breathe in a breath and sigh. My friends know me well and they know practically what I'm thinking.
"I think they are dating now," Kylie whispers.
I nod my head in response and manage to tear my gaze away from them. I couldn't understand what was happening. We were going on a date in just a week from today. He was a good kind of guy, at least I thought so. My mind begins to reel and I still can't manage to think properly. Surprisingly, I wasn't hurt all too well, but I was confused and shocked. Besides, have they never heard of PDA? Jeez.
I bit my lip and try to wrap my head around it. I couldn't think of what to do. I drop the idea of eating the packed lunch that I brought today because I didn't feel up to stomaching the school's food and from what was currently happening and how I felt, I lost my appetite.
I needed to talk with Julian at once and get to the bottom of what was happening. The remainder of the lunch, I half listen to the conversations that the girls have and kept my mind busy.

After the last bell rings, signalling the end of the school day, I get out of my History class and search the halls for a familiar light brown haired boy. I spot his tall figure and catch up to him. I stand on my tip toes and tap his shoulder lightly to catch his attention. He turns around and looks down to me. He looks slightly annoyed by me and I feel even more confused, but I needed answers.
"C-can we talk?," I stuttered. Grow some confidence, you chicken, I tell myself.
He looks at the screen of his phone and back to me. He merely nods his head.
I gulp and lead him the way to outside the doors of the school and walk to my car in the parking lot. I look around to see that the buses are still being loaded and that no one is currently at the few of the cars still left in the parking lot. He clears his throat and I bring my attention back to him. Silence and tension slowly builds between us.
I take a breathe and voice my thoughts, "I saw you with Audra in the cafeteria today."
He nods his head and says, "Yep. And?"
I furrow my eyebrows and search his features and see nothing that expresses what he is feeling. "Um, well what was that?"
"Never heard of a couple kissing?"
I furrow my eyebrows more and bite my lip, "Yeah, but if you are a couple then why were you going on a date with me, the kiss..." I trailed off.
He rolls his eyes, "I was paid by somebody to fake date you, lead you on, and then dump you. It clearly didn't work, so I'm done with it and my part of the deal."
