"I don't know what to tell you."
"How about why you went to meet with him?," Damon barks at me.
"I'm just trying to get close to him, to find out information," I defend myself.
I arrived to Mariah's five minutes ago, and on my way to get a bottle of water from the kitchen, Damon pulled me into his room without warning. Currently, we are in a very heated argument over me meeting Alex at the cinema, and Damon is being his overdramatic self.
"He could've tried something on you."
I cross my arms and huff, "Not hardly, he is just using me as part of his plan, whatever it is. But, clearly I'm alive and breathing, so I'm good. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get a drink of water because I'm quite parched at the moment after having to argue with you," I push past him and brush his shoulder as I walk by.
I move to the door, when Damon steps in front of me. I roll my eyes and sigh, "Move."
Damon smirks and shakes his head, "I don't think so."
My breath hitches as I realize how close we are and my heart pounds fiercely in my chest. How do I not ever notice how close we get? I step back and glare at him, "The discussion is over."
Damon takes a step closer to me, and we are as close as we just previously were. "It isn't even close to over."
I scoff, "Why? There isn't anything else to possibly talk about."
Damon searches my eyes and I can't help to look directly into his. "Do you remember anything from the costume party?"
I shake my head, "No."
Damon smirks and he does something unexpected. He takes his hand and tucks a stray strand of hair behind my hair. My breath hitches and my heart begins to race again. I just look at him dumbfounded.
I clear my throat and come to my senses, "Why?"
Damon looks intensely into my eyes, "Because I do."
I nod my head, "Okay."
I find myself observing his features, the way his eyebrows scrunch together when he is thinking and his nose that was a little bit too big for his face and was slightly crooked. His jet-black hair that had a naturally tousled messiness to it and his arched brows that looked to be groomed. His vivid blue eyes, this close I could see the flecks of green in them. I never noticed them before, until now. He has distinctive cheekbones and an angular jawline, his pale skin seemed to make him be devilishly handsome, mixed with all of these features. How had I not noticed any of these before? You'd think I would've, being the one that crushed on him for a majority of my childhood. I couldn't find myself to look at his lips...I have no idea why, but it wouldn't be right of me to.
I then take in the awkward silence and how he is still staring at me, practically looking through my soul with his intense gaze, and that I have been creepily observing his face.
"Is there anything I should be aware of?," I find myself asking him.
He comes out of his daze and shakes his head. I nod and quietly bid farewell as I make my way to the door. He doesn't make any move to stop me.
****
"Is it even the same as it was before?"
"I have no idea what you mean," I smirk.
"You do know what I mean, quit dodging the question," Mariah replies coyly.
"You want the answer?," I ask.
