'Alright Liz, you can leave' called Nancy.
'Great!' Lizzy shouted back, stopping mopping the floor. She liked having a job. Even if it was only part time and even if it was only in the Blue Point Diner. It gave her something else to do rather than just stay at home helping her Mom do the housework, or reading.

Walking into the back room, she took her bag of clothes and went into the toilets to get changed out of the uniform. She felt more comfortable walking home in her own clothes since the uniform was slightly shorter. It stopped before her knees rather than after.

Opening the door, Lizzy felt the breeze of the cold, night air hit her face. It was a late Saturday night and the sky was as black as coal. Taking her first step outside, Lizzy turned to begin walking down the street but stopped when noticing a group of boys walking down the street.
It was Ace and his gang.

She didn't move. Should she just walk past them and not say anything? What if he stopped her? What if she turned around and walked the opposite way? But then that way would take even longer in the dark and the cold.
A million different possibilities and scenarios raced through Lizzy's mind as she stood there.
Ace was in front of all the boys, leading the way. The rest of the boys saw Lizzy standing there and whispers commenced along with waiting looks to Ace. They were expecting him to go talk to her and so was she.

Ace looked at Lizzy straight in the eye, only a few feet away. But he didn't do anything apart from look at her, and even that was only for a few seconds. Instead, he turned and walked into Irby's, his entourage following him in with confused looks on their faces. He hadn't come anywhere near her.

Standing there, confusion gripped Lizzy as it had gripped the rest of The Cobras. Yesterday he seemed so into her yet today he barely even looked at her.
'Why am I even thinking about this?' Lizzy thought to herself, 'maybe he's lost interest or maybe he was just fooling around the whole time, either way, I should be relieved' And with that she began walking home.

'C'mon Billy, I'll play you' said Ace walking towards the pool table and picking up the cue. Eyeball and Vince went to the bar to get some beers, Irby's would let them have a couple beers to keep the peace. The rest of the boys sat in the seats near to the pool table.
Billy picked up his cue and they began their game while the boys engaged in quiet conversation, mostly about Lizzy and how Ace had ignored her. Eyeball and Vince soon returned with the drinks and joined in on this quiet conversation.

'You okay boys?' Ace asked a couple minutes later. This wasn't a caring question, he wasn't genuinely asking if they were okay. It was more of a question to what they were talking about, it was clear with the harsh tone in his voice.
Eyeball spoke up for the group, 'well, Ace, me n the boys were just wondering why you ignored Lizzy out there'
'Yeah ain't she meant to be your girl?' Billy chipped in.
Ace placed his cue on the side of the pool table.
'Do I really have to remind you assholes that we just lost that dead kid's body to those faggots?' Ace started 'I would rather think of ways to get them back right now than chase after some stupid girl who has no idea who she's dealing with'
The boys nodded in agreement. Revenge against Chris, Gordie, Teddy and Vern was a must. They had stopped the Cobras from taking the body of Ray Brower, consequently stripping them of any fame they could have received.
'Plus' Ace said stopping the boys' nods, chirps and thoughts of agreement, 'This will give, Elizabeth, some time to think, understand what she's really missing out on' A smirk appearing on his face as he picked up the cue and continued his game with Billy.
