Chap. 5 The X First X Phase

As we all entered the maze, the scenery changed drastically. We all entered a thick fog that coated the maze like a blanket. It kept us from seeing far into the distance, yet some people -mostly desperate ones- kept on running blindly, some had already begun to jump over the hedges. Tonpa continued on running but looked back at me curiously and passed it off with a nervous grin and a wave.

"Good luck!" He yelled as he disappeared into the fog.

**Tonpa's POV**

'That juice laced with that laxative should have gotten to her by now!' I felt sweat on my face as I ran through the maze.

'I saw her take a sip, that should have been enough..! Well if it doesn't effect her soon -which she is definitely crazy weird if it doesn't- then I can do other things to make her and the other rookies fail.." I kept running and grinned.

'I am known as the rookie crusher after all. I love seeing those rookies dreams get crushed!'

**Scarlet's POV**

I stood alone at the beginning of the hedge maze. I looked behind me seeing that the entrance had disappeared.

'That confirms it then.' I walked slowly down the path and neared the hedges. 'This maze will change based on the applicants actions I guess..' I grit my teeth unsure of my theory. 'Or does it change randomly? Ugh I'm not sure just yet..' I sighed and began walking again. 'We'll see how it turns out so far. But to test my theories on danger..'

My hand neared the hedge to touch and suddenly multiple dreams were heard in a very far off distance.

'The maze is larger than I thought..' I said to myself.

'But those screams could have been from the jumpers...' I touched the hedge softly and began walking, brushing my hand through the leaves. I heard a slight rustling from behind and turned around quickly, dodging a sudden object that zoomed passed my ear, making my long black ponytail fly.

I turned around again barely dodging the unseen object. I held out my arms that had black armbands over my wrists that then shot out a curved blade sticking out from them.

I had replaced my wooden swords and my runes outfit due to the thought they meant something about my past. I had put the clothes and weapon away in a safe area in case I wanted them again. I now carried blades around my arms and black clothing that exposed my arms and legs. So when the unseeable object passed by me again, it scraped my leg just over the long black boots I wore.

When the object flied at me again I slashed my arm across it and felt blood splatter on my face and a high pitched squeal. A creature then.

I turned around once more to see a winged dinosaur looking creature the size of a beach ball on the floor with its body slashed. It looked pitiful. And dealt as it did try to kill me. I walked over to it and stepped on its head with my boot, feeling a squish underneath it.
"ugh.." I groaned out loud as I continued walking.

I made it to a larger opening of the maze and the paths grew much larger. I heard a chuckle a inclined my head to the side a few inches and the chuckle had silenced.

"If you're hoping to kill me along with your little friends, then do it instead of being a creep. Or you can decide to live a while longer." I said to the empty space. Although I knew there were about five others surrounding me. I had felt there presences following me for a few hours now. They obviously didn't know Nen or else the would have been in Zetsu to hide their presence. And even if they did know Nen and didn't care enough to not use Zetsu I would be able to sense their aura showing that they were Nen wielders, but they weren't.
