The basement

Anwesha's POV

I was about to turn off the lights of my room when my phone vibrated. It was Siddharth's call.

"Hey!" I spoke as I picked up the call.

"Hi!" he responded, his voice sounded much relieved.

"How is your brother?" I asked as I sat on my bed leaning against the headboard.

"Much better..!"

"That's a relief!"

"Yeah...I was really scared!" He spoke, "By the way, everything is alright, right?" he asked.

"Yup don't worry... I am perfectly fine here." I replied, "Moreover, Shallow is with me." I spoke as I patted Shallow who was curled up beside me on the bed. Making him laugh.

"Take care and don't be afraid, I am here, if anything happens make sure to call me...okay?" 

"Yup...!!", I spoke, "and you too, take care okay?"

"Yup!" He replied, and I bet he smiled.

"Don't worry...good night!" I spoke.

"Good night..!"

I ended the call and switched off the lights yawning as I wrapped myself with the soft cozy blanket and went off to sleep. It is quite cold today. Moreover, it is raining outside.

Siddharth's POV

As Ann ended the call I walked inside my brother's cabin and sat beside his bed. He is now much stable. I felt so much relieved to see nothing too dangerous had happened to him. He was alive. Only his left arm had got a bone fracture and his right leg got some scratches while his forehead has got a bit of a cut, he used his arms to brace for the impact and hence he managed to avoid fatality or any major injury. I was so scared when I heard that he had an accident.

9 years ago I lost my parents due to an accident. It was all over in an instant. I still can't believe I would never see them ever again. I miss them so much.

...Flashback...

"Sid! Where are you baby?" Mum asked.

"Mummy I am here !" I said running towards her, still in my school uniform and engulfing her in my arms.

"Here comes my champ!" Said my father as he lifted me and made me sit on his shoulder.

"Woah!" I exclaimed trying to balance myself as we all laughed.

"Mom, Dad, Sid, you all have forgotten me!!" Bro humped, as he walked inside from the backyard carrying the basketball in his hands with which we were playing.

"Aww..!!!" mom said chuckling as she outstretched her arms for him to take, she was always so jolly. Dad smiled at him as he outstretched his left arm while holding me with his other arm. I was still sitting on his shoulder.

Rolling his eyes, he smiled and walked towards us and we all embraced each other in a big family hug.

"Tomorrow is Sid's birthday! Mom, are we going to buy the Naruto-themed cake for him?" my brother asked as he teased me, ruffling through my hair.

"Of course baby! We will and then we will decorate the whole house for him. Your uncles are coming tomorrow too to wish him." Mom said excitedly while we all smiled in amusement.

But if only I knew this was the last time I would be talking with my mom and dad. This was the last time I could see them I could feel their warm embrace, I would have hugged them a little tighter and never let them go. The next day changed our lives.
