Broken Record- Dani Cimorelli (Fanfic)

Part 7

Dani's POV

It's Thursday night and I was getting ready to leave for Cole's basketball game. I was happy that he invited me to go to his game just because I felt like it was us getting closer.

My friend Ashley was picking me up to go to the game with me. So when she texted me that she was at my house, I grabbed my stuff and went out to her car.

We drove to the high school where his game was at. When we pulled into the high school parking lot, we got out and headed towards the gym.

Ashley- "Ready to go see your bae?" Ashley said while wiggling her eyebrows up and down.

Dani- "You can't call him my bae if we aren't even there yet!"

Ashley- "You guys obviously like each other!"

Dani- "We are just getting to know each other!"

Ashley- "Yeah, yeah!! Let's just go see your man play!" I rolled my eyes as I laughed and entered the gym doors.

The game had just started when we arrived. We made our way to the bleachers  to go sit down.

I didn't know much about the positions in basketball but Cole did tell me a little bit about it. He told me that he was a shooting guard but when he got in depth about what his position actually does, I didn't really get it all. But I know that he is number 14. So as soon as I sat on the bleachers I looked on the court and spotted him.

As I sat there and watched the game I was super impressed, he was really good. Both teams were really good so it was a pretty competitive game. The score was close almost the entire game.

It wasn't until the very end when Cole's team finally started to widen the gap. The game lasted a little over an hour before it finally came to an end. When it did end Cole's team ran over to the sideline where the coach and remaining players were.

Ashley and I walked down the bleachers and waited at the bottom. The players finally grabbed their stuff and started walking separate ways. When Cole had grabbed his stuff, he started walking towards me.

Ashley- "Go get your man!" Ashley whispered in my ear as she pushed me forward then walked away.

I walked towards him and he had a wide smile on his face.

Cole- "Hey." He said shyly but with the same wide smile.

Dani- "Hey!" I said reaching out to give him a hug. He put his arms around me and pulled me into a tight hug. When he let go he looked down at me and smiled.

Cole- "Thanks for coming!"

Dani- "I'm glad that I did! You did awesome!"

Cole- "Thank you!" He said while giggling slightly. He had his bag on one shoulder as we started walking out of the gym, side by side.

Cole- "You know I was kind of worried that I was gonna do terribly with you here." He said while laughing.

Dani- "What! Why?" I said kind of surprised.

Cole- "I was nervous. I didn't want to invite you and then suck! Then I would have looked like an idiot." He laughed and then continued.

Cole- "But that's actually the toughest team that we go up against. So now that we won, I'm kind of thinking you might be my good luck."

Dani- "Oh yeah? And why's that?"

Cole- "Because we almost always lose to them. And if we win, I still do terrible. So I'm just going to have to assume that you are my good luck charm... So now your obligated to come to any and all important games!" He said as I smiled at him.

Dani- "Alright! Any and all important games!" I said laughing. As we walked out of the gym and towards the parking lot he continued.

Cole- "By the way, I'm gonna start trying to do that thing you told me about."

Dani- "Journaling?!" I said excitedly. He laughed while he put his head down.

Cole- "We will just call it writing! I feel like a girl when you say journaling. I already felt weird buying something to journal in!" He said while he laughed.

Dani- "You're going to journal." I said quietly but excited! He laughed as he looked over at me.

He was walking me towards Ashley's car but we walked slow so that we could actually talk for a while. He looked over at me as he walked with his hands in his sweatshirt pockets. He spoke in his same shy, quiet tone.

Cole- "You look beautiful by the way."

I smiled and felt myself blushing. Thankfully it was getting dark outside and was probably harder to tell.

Dani- "Thank you." I said trying to keep calm but internally I was freaking out. As we got closer to Ashley's car, he continued.

Cole- "So this Saturday Sarah and I are having some of our friends come over for a barbecue. I was wondering if maybe you would want to come?"

Dani- "Yeah! That sounds awesome." I said with a smile on my face.

Cole- "So we'll see you on Saturday. I'll text you with more details later, is that cool?"

Dani- "Yeah! That's perfect."

When we got to Sarah's car, he pulled his hands out of his sweatshirt pockets and gave me a hug.

Cole- "Thanks again for coming." He said as he hugged me. When he let go I responded.

Dani- "Anytime." I said keeping very calm considering that was really difficult for me to do.

This is what I liked about him. He always sounded so genuine. I didn't feel like he was telling me that I was beautiful as a part of some game. I felt like he said it because he meant it.
