Dani's POV
Today I was at my friends house for her birthday. I'd never been over to her house before but I was excited to get out of my house and do something. She was having a party and there were a bunch of people, some that I knew and some that I didn't. When I got there I was immediately greeted by her.
Sarah- "Hey! I'm so glad that you came! Come in!" She said happily. Sarah was really outgoing like me. We weren't shy in any way.
I wished her a happy birthday while I handed her the gift that I brought. She smiled widely at me and thanked me as we walked out to the back yard where most of the people were hanging out. I made my way around to the people I knew, saying hi to each of them. I made conversation with each of them for a while.
After a little while of making conversation, I walked to the kitchen to get something to drink. When I did, I turned around and stumbled dropping my drink on the floor. Luckily, it was a plastic cup so nothing broke. But there was still soda all over the floor.
I looked forward and to both my sides to see if anyone noticed. I didn't see anyone around so I quickly picked up my cup and went to grab paper towels. When I reached for the paper towels I was startled by someone who spoke up behind me.
Cole- "Do you need any help?" A tall boy with dirty blonde hair asked. I jumped because I didn't think there was anyone in the kitchen when I had spilled the drink.
Dani- "Uhm no I think I'm good." I said with a smile on my face, noticing how attractive he was.
Cole- "Here I'll help you out." He said as he let out a small laugh. He went to a cabinet and pulled out a towel and some Windex to prevent the stickiness. I looked at him surprised that he knew exactly where to find this stuff.
Dani- "How did you know where to get that?"
Cole- "Well, I do live here. And considering the fact that it's my sister's party, I think I should be the one cleaning it and not a guest." He said as he let out a small laugh.
Dani- "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't know Sarah had a brother. I'd never met your family before today." He gave me a shy smile as he bent down to wipe up my mess.
Dani- "I'm Dani by the way."
Cole- "Cole." He said with the same shy smile as he reached out to shake my hand.
Dani- "I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to make a mess and now you are having to clean it all."
Cole- "It's really no big deal. Don't worry about it." He said kindly.
Dani- "So you're Sarah's brother? How old are you?"
Cole- "I just turned 17. What about you?"
Dani- "I'm about to turn 16." He smiled friendly at me and I couldn't help but notice how shy he was compared to Sarah. He finished cleaning up and went to throw the paper towels in the trash.
Dani- "Thanks again. I really appreciate it."
Cole- "No problem. Have fun... And uh, no more spills." He said with a small side smirk. He walked away starting to head up to his room.
Dani- "Hey wait!" He turned around to look at me.
Dani- "You're not going to stay and hang out with the people here?"
Cole- "No, not really my thing. A bunch of people and a big crowd is kind of overwhelming for me... Besides I don't really know any of my sisters friends, so that would be kind of awkward." He paused and turned around but then turned back towards me.
Cole- "Well, I guess now I know one. But uh, you should have fun. Maybe I'll see you around soon?" He said smiling sweetly at me.
Dani- "Yeah, I'll see you around." I smiled at him. He then turned around and headed back towards his room. I returned back out to where everyone else was but I couldn't stop thinking about how much he intrigued me.
I don't know what it is about him, but he held my attention so thoroughly. He was captivating. I want to know more about him.
