Chapter 4

"Adik ka din no?" Tanong ko kay Alex habang nakasakay kami sa kotse nya.

"Siguro." Sagot nya. Parang di na sya galit.

"Aawayin mo ko. Hihilahin mo ko sa kung saan tapos bigla mo kong ipapakilalang girlfriend mo? You're crazy!"

"Hey. Hindi naman kita aawayin, hihilahin sa kung saan at ipapakilalang girlfriend ko, kung hindi mo pinalayas yung babaeng dapat na kasama ko."

"Hindi ko sya pinalayas no!"

"Yes, you did."

"Did not!"

"Did to."

"Did not."

"Did to."

"Ugh! This is pointless. At san mo naman ako balak dalin? Ha?" What did they say about arguing with an idiot?

"Look, Aubrey, right? Relax. Okay? May pupuntahan lang tayo kasama ng barkada ko and then pwede ka ng umuwi. Kahit ihatid pa kita."

"Eh saan nga?"

"Sa Batangas."

"Okay... Saan yun?"

"Hindi mo alam?" He glanced at me then back to the road. "Hindi ka ba tiga dito?"

Should I tell him? Oh, what the hell. "Oo."

"That explains." He shrugged.

My phone buzzed so I got it from my bag. I saw Sydney's pic on the screen so I pressed the red icon.

"Syd."

"Where the fuck are you!!!"

My eyes automatically closed and I held the phone away from my ear.

"Ano ba. You don't have to shout!"

"Hypocrite. Eh bat mo ko sinisigawan?"

"Sorry." I mumbled automatically.

"So, nasan ka nga?" She sighed.

"Uhm. I don't know."

"What?!"

"Sydney. Again, with the shouting."

"Sorry."

"Papunta akong Batangas."

"Batangas?!"

"Do you really have to repeat everything I say? And I swear, if you shout one more time, I will hang up."

"Anong gagawin mo dun? Alam mo bang malayo yun dito?! Ha?!"

"Really?" I covered the mouthpiece and turned to Alex who's grinning from ear to ear.

"Malayo pala yung Batangas eh!"

"Oo nga. Bat, sinabi ko bang malapit?"

"Argh!" I got back to the phone, "uhm Syd? Long story. Basta uuwi din ako. Okay? Bye!"

Then I hung up.

"Take me home. Now."

"Are you crazy? Why would I do that?"

"Ikaw ang crazy! Eh ni hindi nga tayo magkakilala eh."

"Fine. I'm Alexander Dadgardoust. Alex for short. Half German, half Filipino. I just turned 20 and still in college."

"What the?" This guy, really.

"There. Now you know me. Your turn." He smiled like we're friends casually talking and not like what we really are - strangers to each other!
