The Breakup

Chapter 8

Alex unbuckled his seatbelt and I did the same. Parehas kaming bumaba ng sasakyan and we looked at the poor thing that was blocking our way.

It was... a puppy!

Kala nyo kung ano na, no?

"Aww." I cooed and sat down on my heels like Alex.

"I think it's broken its leg."

I looked at the poor thing and tried to make out its breed. I think it's a Lhasa Apso!

"Kunin kaya natin?" Sabi ko.

"Ano ka ba? Hindi pwede no. Baka hinahanap na to ng mga may-ari sa kanya."

I looked around. "Eh muka namang walang naghahanap eh."

"Kahit na."

"Pleaaaase?" I urged, "and then maybe we could go back here sometime to check kung may naghahanap nga sa kanya."

He let out a deep breath. "Sige na nga."

"Yaaay!" I stood up and lumipat ako sa side nya to hug him.

"Okay." He said and I suddenly felt weird hugging him so I let go.

"Kargahin mo na."

"Bakit ako?"

"Eh lalaki ka eh. Ibigay mo na lang sakin later sa loob."

"Tsk." He shook his head curtly but carried the pup anyway.

As he drived, the puppy slept well on my lap. I was running my hand over its hair.

"May kilala akong vet dun samin sa condo. Do you wanna take the puppy there?"

"Really? Sure. I think it's hurt its leg badly."

"Okay. Ano kayang gender nito? Let's name it!"

"Don't know. Tanong na lang natin kay Pete mamaya."

"Pete?"

"The vet."

"Oh. Alright."

Ginising lang ako ni Alex ng nasa California na kami...

California Garden Square sa Mandaluyong. Kayo naman, wag mag expect masyado. Masakit yun.

Umakyat muna kami sa unit nila and bago kami papasukin ni Cara, hiningi nya muna yung Krispy Kreme nya. Grabe din tong babaeng to, segurista!

"Hello. Aubrey right?" Sabi nya habang papunta kaming living area nila.

"Yes. Hi Cara."

"Is that a puppy?" Tanong nya ng makita yung kargakarga ni Alex.

"No, Cara. As you can very well see, it's an elephant."

"Ha. Ha. You are so funny I wonder why you're not dead." She kept a straight face.

"Why, thank you Sandra." Alex said and we sat down their leather sofa.

"Shut up!" Cara scowled.

"Hey, come on now. Don't be rude. Aubrey and I brought you doughnuts. And you haven't even said thank you yet."

"Oh right, sorry. And thank you Aubrey!"

"No problemo." I smiled.

"Sie ist so hübsch" [She is so pretty] Cara said, obviously talking to Alex.
