I finally got home around two in the morning and I was completely exhausted."Where have you been missy?", my dad asked as soon as I had opened the door.
"Um, sorry dad, but I was out working on a partner project", I replied in a tired voice.
"You put way too much pressure on your sister. I have given you these jobs and I expect you to take care of your siblings", he cried.
I lost it right there. "Dad you're never home. How do you know this isn't too much pressure on myself? I do what I can, dad. But between taking care of them, soccer, and school what time do I have to myself!" With that I stormed up the stairs to my room.
The next morning my dad wasn't home when I walked downstairs. Nicole and Chris were sitting at the table eating breakfast.
"Let's go", I said without giving them a second glance.
We walked out and jumped into my car. The whole way I had my radio turned up at high volume. Once we got to Chris' school he got out without a word. Great, today was looking just great.
I drove the rest of the way to school, only the radio breaking the silence.
Once we got to school I headed out without saying anything.
"Wait, Sarah. What's the matter?" I heard Nicole call from behind me.
I pretended not to hear her and continued walking. A few seconds later, her hand pulled me back. "What's the matter?" she said with a firmer tone.
"What happened last night, huh?" I shouted. I went to turn back around, but she still had a grip on me.
"Wait, what?" she asked.
"Why was dad so upset that you were watching over Chris. I told you I had to work on a project. Is that too much to ask for?"
"When he came home he was upset, I'll admit that. But I told him exactly what you told me. That you had to go over to a friend's house and work on a project. He said that was fine and then asked how everything had gone. And, well, that was the end of it", she said with pleading eyes. "I don't know why he was upset."
"Alright, I'm sorry", I said pulling her in for a quick hug. "I have to go though, so have a good day." I let her go and started walking towards my Physics class.
I got there with no time to spare. James wasn't there though.
"Alright class, please turn in your partner projects. Make sure both names are on it." My teacher said with a cheerful voice.
Wait that's due today? Crap! It's still at James' house from last night! What was I going to do?
I raised my hand slightly.
"Yes Sarah?" my teacher asked.
"Well, James has our project and as you see he isn't here", I said sheepishly.
"Well that won't do will it? I'm sorry Sarah, but as I said when I assigned this project there's no late exceptions. You will need to turn it in by the end of the day", she said.
I immediately pulled out my phone and sent a text to James.
WHERE ARE YOU?!?! I sent.
I waited all class for a response, but nothing came. The whole morning I waited- throughout all of my morning classes, but still nothing came.
When lunch came I sat down at my regular spot and prayed that James would magically appear. But he didn't.
DUDE SERIOUSLY WHERE ARE YOU.
