CHAPTER 9: Hope

STARLA'S P.O.V

Everything was perfect. We had everything we wanted. Everything we were looking for. But something didn't seem right. But I didn't know what it was. I just ws nervous about something. It might have been Fireshard. Whenever I looked at him, he had this creepy grin on his face. And I've heard him having a conversation about something with someone. But how? I must have hope that whatever's wrong will be okay. So I went to talk to Taoclan about it. I approached Taoclan. "Hey, Taoclan," I said. "What's up Starla?" He replied. "Have you noticed anything funny about Fireshard Lately? The strange conversations, The creepy grins, and he's usually not around." I told him. "He's probably just mad that he lost the fight and is the Omega. Fireshard is just weird like that. And if he tries anything, we can always kick him out and let him live on the other side of the mountains." He explained to me. "Well, I hope it won't have to come down to that." I responded. "Me too." He said. The next day, I decided to have a little talk with Fireshard myself. I went to his cave. "Fireshard!" I yelled. "Oh it's just you. What do you want?" He spat. I looked behind him, and saw a bunch of rocks stacked up. "What is this and why have you been acting so weird lately?" I asked. "None of your business. Now get out. There's stuff I need to do." He exclaimed. "What stuff is this? I know you're hiding something." I responded. "Well, I'm not hiding my dignity, so I tell you GET LOST!" he barked. "Hey you can't talk to me like that, I'm an Alpha like Taoclan!" I said angrily. "I would pound you right now, but I have more honor than that. Plus I don't need to be killed by Taoclan. Not yet, at least." He replied. "What do you mean 'Not yet'? What is going on?" I yelled at him. "JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" He roared. "That's it!" I exclaimed. "You are out of this pack!" "Ha!" He spat back. "You can't do that if Taoclan agrees." He said. I went back to Taoclan. "Taoclan, I tried to talk with Fireshard, but he wouldn't tell me anything, and he was very aggressive about it! He was building some sort of beacon too, so I think it would be best if we kick him out of our pack." I told him. "Starla, I think I'm the first person that would want to kick Fireshard, but we can't." He told me. "Why not?" I asked shocked. "Because we need him. He's very strong, and if we ever need to take down the council or some other enemies, we need a pack of at least 5. And it is very unlikely that we will find another wolf as strong as him. And whatever he is planning, if anything, we can handle it. I mean, what's the worst he can do? There's 4 of us and one of him. Plus, I'm pretty strong myself. There's nothing to worry about." Said Taoclan. I didn't want to admit it, but he was right. Fireshard does have reasons to stay. And I won't lose hope. Maybe Fireshard's plan won't be as bad as I think. Maybe he doesn't even have anything planned, and he's just weird. I hope that the last one is right. But all I can do is hope.
