"Kageyama....!" Hinata wandered down the hallway.
He glanced at the wall, looking at family pictures and such.
Kageyama wasn't smiling in a single one.
Hinata wasn't surprised, to say the least. However, one caught his eye. It was at the closer end of the hallway, and it was of a smiling boy receiving a present, a new volleyball.
Hinata immediately recognized it as Kageyama's ball in his room. But this Kageyama in the picture was different, happy. He was small, Hinata figured, around ten or eleven, but still tiny. And cute, Hinata might add.He brushed off those rogue thoughts and rolled his eyes, still looking at the picture. Was that even Kageyama?! He was way too happy to be the boy Hinata was on the team with. It was a Saturday, and since Kageyama wasn't anywhere to be seen, Hinata quickly took the picture to inspect it.
No, it was definitely Kageyama. The eyes, the nose, he was even taller than Hinata at that age, probably.
That wasn't saying much, though. He heard the front door open, and heard someone set something on the table. It sounded like grocery bags.
Hinata glanced over. He rolled his eyes when he realized it was just Kageyama.
"Why'd you leave me?" Hinata says, suddenly behind the setter.
"I had things to do." He replied.
"Like buy seven more cartons of milk?" Hinata teased.
"Shut the hell up."He sighed. "What do you even do around the house on weekends? Be angry?"
He didn't reply, so Hinata took that as a yes. The whole day was pretty much like that, quiet. Kageyama's parents weren't home and Hinata didn't ask why, so they sat.Which Hinata was perfectly content with, because he liked to be close to the boy-
Wait, WHAT WAS HE THINKING?!
He needed to stop. Kageyama was just a friend, and...
Shit.
Shitshitshitshitshit.
He liked Kageyama.One hour earlier...
Kageyama needed to clear his mind. Desperately. So desperately that he felt like if he thought about that annoying orange hedgehog again that he would stab himself with a very large spork.
So he decided to head to the farmer's market. It was quaint, and small, and quiet, located at the park two blocks down from Kageyama's house. He'd buy food, so his parents didn't have to go out later.
They always worked. It's not like they'd have time to go out, anyways.
It's not like they'd have time for Kageyama. He peered around the small market, people buying things like vegetables, fruit, and even small trinkets. There were even people selling smelly fish, and shrimp.
He was quite entranced by the whole thing, actually, so it was more surprising when he reared a corner and spotted Tsukishima holding Yamaguchi's hand. So, Kageyama decided that this could go two ways. He smiled softly to himself, taking a picture, which wasn't probably the right decision, but when was Kageyama obsessed with morals? Besides, an eye for an eye.
He went over to them. As soon as Tsukishima saw Kageyama, he immediately tore his hand away, but it was too late.
"I swear to god if you tell anyone-" The blonde began.
"Shut up, I'm not. I mean, I could-"
"Hi, Kageyama!" Yama bounded over, obviously nervous.
He waved hello."Kageyama-"
"Shut up, I'm not going to tell anyone. Well, I mean, I could tell Hinata-"
Tsukishima glared at him.
He shrugged and walked away, trying not to laugh his ass off.Kageyama could tell that the blonde was staring daggers.
He walked to a small stand that had eggs and vegetables, and bought some tomatoes and eggs.
They were the brown eggs. He vaguely remembered his mom telling him those were the organic type or something along those lines. He paid the correct amount and received his change, walking around a bit more.
Present Time...
Hinata needed to make sure that his parent knew he wasn't dead. Not that they cared, anyways.
Obviously that wasn't the case, but once Hinata thought something was true, you couldn't change his opinion. He pulled out his phone, clicking on his mother's contact.Messages poured in.
He decided to call her, talking a deep breath. Kageyama walked over and sat behind him.Ring...Ring...Rin-
"Shoyo!" Hinata's ears were filled with his mother's anxious, worried voice.
"Hi mo-"
"Where are you?!" She asked, he could hear Natsu in the background, excitedly asking if that was Hinata. He sighed. "At a friend's."
"Where is their house? I'm coming to get you right now-"
"Can I stay here for just a little longer? Pleaaaase!" He begs.
You could hear a long pause on the other line, Natsu still chattering away.
"I-I guess..." She says softly.
"I love you, mom.." He says, biting his lip.
"I love you too." You can hear the smile in her voice as the flame haired boy clicks off, sighing loudly."At least your parents like you." Kageyama said, rolling his eye.
"Parent." Hinata corrected.
"You said you had a fight with your parents...?"
"My dad walked out." Hinata says simply, placing his phone back into his pocket.Kageyama nodded.
"I'm going to put the eggs in the fridge." Kageyama began.
"Alright." Hinata nodded softly, biting his lip. He found an old movie, eventually."Maybe it's a cruel joke on me, whatever~." Kageyama hummed softly from the kitchen.
"SEE I TOLD YOU MUSIC WASN'T TRASH!" He grinned, realizing Kageyama was actually singing a song that wasn't terrible.
"Shut up. She's better than I thought." He defended.
Hinata smiled widely.
"But everything else you still like is trash." He narrowed an eyebrow.
"Baby steps, Kageyama." He was still grinning widely.Kageyama really shouldn't have stared at his face then.
Seeing Hinata there, smiling widely at Kageyama...it made him feel like he was appreciated for something in this world. He looked at the short boy."Are you alright, Kageyama?" He mumbled.
"No-I MEAN YES." Kageyama stuttered. The short boy grinned, blushing slightly, the smallest smattering of freckles grazing his face."I have to go to the bathroom." He mumbled. He locked himself in there and realized the worst possible outcome.
He may have been the slightest bit turned on by Hinata. Anyone else, and Kageyama would've accepted that. But Hinata.
He wasn't even sure that it was the same person.
He was supposed to love to hate Hinata. And it really didn't help that he hated to love him now.
Because as much as Kageyama would deny it, he was head over heels in love with that annoying orange hedgehog.
Better go find his spork.
