SEVEN DAYS.
Three hours later, Kageyama was still in the bathroom. Hinata had no idea why or how he had stayed in there, but he decided not to bother him, as he didn't want to get on his nerves.
Well, he really did, but that wasn't important.
"Kageyaaaama! Hurry up!" He knocked on the door, and listened. The shower was running.
There wasn't a response, and he tried the door, but it was locked.
Hinata didn't really respect that thing called privacy, if you couldn't tell.He rolled his eyes, went back into Kageyama's bedroom, and looked at the date on his phone.
Seven days left. Seven days left until he had to go back home, with his mother and sister.Seven days until he had to stop being a wimp and face the facts that his life absolutely was a mess.
How the hell could he even love Kageyama?! Of all people!
He bit his lip, sitting on the bed.
He had slept here last night.
It was very soft, to say the least. But one question kept bouncing around in the back of his mind; why did Kageyama let him sleep here? It wasn't like him at all.
But maybe, just maybe, Hinata liked that.
However, he didn't exactly know why. He needed to work this out.
Meanwhile..
Kageyama had read books on attraction and such things. Aesthetically, was he drawn to Hinata? He couldn't quite figure that out for himself.
How could he? Hinata was a dumbass! A total dumbass that Kageyama couldn't ever like. There was no way to it, Kageyama just wasn't attracted to Hinata. He was just attracted to his volleyball skills. Yeah, that was it.
Because there was no way in hell he'd be attracted to that idiot.Definitely not.
Not in a million years, right? But still, Kageyama couldn't shake the feeling that he just wanted to kiss him. He didn't know why, he just wanted to kiss him.
And hold him sometimes.
So, by the usual means, Kageyama was quite afraid of what he was thinking, which is why he was hiding out in the shower.
And the bad news was, the water was getting pretty cold.Hinata was playing with Kageyama's volleyball when he came back, and he had to put it back before the boy came in the room.
Which he did, and made him very proud of himself.
"Finaaaally." He sighed, addressing the taller boy.
"Shut up." He says softly, not really focusing on Hinata.
"Are you okay? You don't seem as...I don't know..." He began.
"I'm fine." He quickly retorted.
Hinata nodded, still slightly puzzled."Okay..." He said.
Kageyama nodded furiously, a little tiny shadow of blush creeping on his cheek.
The short boy raised an eyebrow.
"And don't play with my volleyball." He said, surprising Hinata.
"How did you..?"
He didn't answer, and walked off. Hinata cocked his head.
"Weird." He said to himself.A couple minutes later, he decided to go find Kageyama. He found him in the kitchen, cutting potatoes.
"What are you doing?" He put his head under Kageyama's arm.
"Go away, you're bothering me." Kageyama said, not paying any attention to the boy.
"Noooooo," he replied. "I'm your only friend."
"I have friends!"
"How many?" He said, smirking slightly.
"...two." He finally mumbled.
"Is one of them me?"
"Maybe." Kageyama answered."You know, you don't have to hate me." He said, smiling.
"I never said I hated you."
He seemed happier at this statement. "Good."
By now, Kags had finished peeling his potatoes and he set them aside.
"What're you making?" Hinata asked.
"I dunno." He answered.
"Can I take over?" Hinata looked at the tall boy beside him. He nodded, as Kageyama wasn't that great at cooking.
The setter nodded, leaving Hinata in the kitchen.
He was probably going to burn the house down.Kageyama liked the silence that meant Hinata was busy, but per usual, it didn't last long. About five minutes passed before he was singing something from Twenty One Pilots, Kageyama could tell.
Not that he listened to them, or anything along those lines.
Definitely not.It was weird, though. He didn't really mind the singing. It was nice in a way, unlike anything else the boy did.
Nevertheless, he couldn't have Hinata thinking that.
"SHUT UP, DUMBASS!" He yelled, tilting his head slightly at the kitchen's direction."NO!" Hinata shouted back.
Kageyama rolled his eyes.Sooner or later, whatever the hell Hinata had made was done, and Kageyama was just glad he didn't burn the house down.
"What is this?" He looked down at the bowl in front of him.
"Some potato soup." Hinata said, smiling. "Eat it."Kageyama tasted it, and it was amazing.
"WHO TAUGHT YOU HOW TO COOK LIKE THIS?!" He stared at Hinata, who was laughing."Wow, thanks. My mom." He answered, rolling his eyes.
Kageyama stared at him."Your mom is an excellent chef, then." He said, smiling slightly.
"Thank you!" Hinata seemed visibly happier at this.
Kageyama liked to see the boy happy, he realized.
He liked it a lot."So what's the situation about rooming here?" He asked curiously.
"Oh! I have seven days here, if that's okay."
It was more than okay."Oh, yeah...it's fine." He said, cursing himself for being so awkward.
The boy nodded, and continued eating, making idle conversation which Kageyama was barely listening to."You know, Hinata." He interrupted the boy halfway through his sentence.
"U-Um, yes..?" He answered.
Kageyama's question was completely out of the blue and stupid, but he decided to ask it."If you had to date someone on the Karasuno team, who would you date?" He asked, swallowing.
"U-Um...they're all boys, Kageya-"
"I know." He interrupted again. He played with his hands for a minute, blushing slightly.
"If I had to..?" He answered."Yes." Kageyama said, slightly more confident.
"I-" he took a deep breath, and he decided to lie. He couldn't tell the truth!
"Tsukishima." He mumbled.
"WHAT?!" Kageyama asked, widening his eyes."I'm sorry!" Hinata yelled.
"Fine then, I'd pick Nishinoya." He said, crossing his arms.He looked just as surprised as Kageyama.
"I m-mean, I guess I wouldn't pick Tsukishima..." Hinata mumbled, looking away.
Kageyama glanced at the short boy, his eyes still slightly widened.
"Then who'd you pick?" Kageyama asked, cocking his head.
"I mean, since you're the closest one to me on this team..." He said, slightly shaking.
"Seriously?" Kageyama finished for him, finally connecting two and two.
"Yes! You were the one who asked me the question in the first place, so shut up!" Hinata defensively said, raising his hands."I wouldn't pick Noya, either." He said.
"You'd pick...?" Hinata mumbled, still blushing.
"I mean, I guess if I had to pick, I'd pick you." He said under his breath.
"O-Okay.." Hinata said."That's all you're going to say?! I basically just confessed my love for you, and-" It was too late to take back anything.
"What did you just say?" Hinata cocked his eyebrow, blushing terribly.
"Nothing." Kageyama answered.
"No. Finish what you were saying." He says, biting his lip."I'm saying I love you, dumbass."
