SIX DAYS.
The two were eating cereal, Kageyama on his phone, Hinata staring down at his flavorless breakfast.
"You know, you could buy actual cereal for a change." Hinata mumbled, picking at the cereal, if you could even call it that.
"What would you rather buy?" Kageyama asked, raising an eyebrow."The sugary kind!" The boy's eyes lit up.
Kageyama acted like he thought about it for a moment, and then answered Hinata.
"No." He said, rolling his eyes. Hinata pouted.Sooner or later, Kageyama had finished his cereal, and Hinata was still picking at his. He glared daggers at the black haired boy beside him.
"What're you looking at?" Kageyama asked, biting his lip.
"Your stupid face." He growls.
"Mmhm, nice comeback, dumbass." He says, rolling his eyes. Hinata paused, getting ready to reply, but for once, shut his mouth.Kageyama glanced over at the silence, not expecting it. He dismissed it.
"K-Kageyama?" Hinata looked up at the boy, cocking his head.
"Um....yeah?" He responded.
"A-Ar-Are we dating?" He asked, not making eye contact with Kageyama.
The black-haired boy didn't respond, and Hinata waited for him to answer."I-I don't know! That's a stupid question!"
Hinata rolled his eyes. "YOU SAID YOU LIKED ME!" He yelled, his hair getting bigger, if that was possible.
"I-IT WAS A HEAT OF THE MOMENT KIND OF THING!"
Kageyama shouted.
The boy bit his lip, glaring at the setter.
"I do like you, Hinata, it isn't that," Kageyama said, sucking in a breath. "But I don't know how to d-date." He said, rubbing the back of his neck absentmindedly. Hinata noticed he was blushing intensely, but didn't call him out on it.Hinata smirked.
"Kageyama, you're completely hopeless, you know?"
"Shut up, dumbass."•••
A few miles away, one Sugawara Koushi was worried.
"Suga..." Daichi tried to reason with the silver-haired boy.Sugawara tilted his head over, paying barely three seconds of attention to Daichi before going on another worried rant.
"Y-You can totally tell they're a thing...and if they break up, their whole attack is going to be ruined, a-and-" Suga was going on about how Kageyama and Hinata were secretly dating, and if they broke up, it would ruin the team."Come here." Daichi said, rolling his eyes. Suga did as he was told and walked over to his bed, sitting beside Daichi. He had slept over at Suga's last night.
Daichi didn't know what to do after that, so he ended up awkwardly petting Suga's hair.
"You're silly." Suga laughed softly, rolling his eyes.
Daichi blushed slightly, biting his lip."Sugawara, do you really think that Hinata and Kageyama are going to date each other?" He looked down at Suga.
The silver-haired boy nodded.
"You weren't there. Their faces and expressions were so...Hinata was so defensive, and so was Kageyama." Suga laughed nervously."Calm down, Suga. You're a spazz."
Daichi said. Suga gave him a very mom-like look. Daichi laughed.
"This isn't a laughing matter, Dai." Suga said in a very serious, albeit cute tone.
"And why not? It's silly!""No it isn't!" Sugawara protested.
Daichi nodded. "Again...I don't think Hinata would end up with Kageyama. Of all people."Suga cocked his head.
"Daichi, have you even seen them?! They're basically married."
Daichi nodded, shrugging slightly."Just calm down, Suga." He said, pulling the boy onto his lap. Suga leaned into Daichi and sighed, putting the subject off.
"Fine. However, you're going to have to punch Tsukishima in the face. He sassed me." Suga mumbled.
"I'll put it on my list."•••
It was Sunday, and it was warmer outside than the past week.
"So, Kageyama." Hinata stated. The two had migrated to the living room in the past ten minutes or so.
"Huh?" The tall boy tilted his head over slightly.
"We should go outside." Hinata said, smiling widely.
"No." Kageyama automatically responded, not even thinking about it."Why?!" He asked, obviously quite bored out of his mind.
"Because there isn't any air conditioning outside." Kageyama was reading a book.
"We can just walk or something." Hinata reasoned, pulling his legs under him."Will you shut up if we do?" Kageyama directed his eyes to the impatient redhead.
"Yes!" Hinata stretched the syllable out.
"Fine, fine." Kageyama said, albeit a bit sarcastically. The short boy nodded enthusiastically, and the setter realized he already had his shoes on.
Kageyama was practically wrapped around Hinata's finger.
Kageyama pulled his shoes on, sighing at the realization. O-Of course, it couldn't have been true, Kageyama was his own person and didn't really care for anyone-
"Kaaaageyama! Hurry up!" Hinata said, running a hand through his hair in attempt to calm it. It didn't help.
"I'm coming!" He snapped, causing Hinata to jump slightly.
"You're meaaaan." Hinata sarcastically remarked.Kageyama just rolled his eyes as Hinata opened the door.
"Ladies first." Hinata quipped.
"Thank you, dumbass.""You're not going to comment that I called you a lady?" Hinata seemed a slight bit surprised.
"No, because ladies are awesome. Secondly, if I was a woman I wouldn't have to date you." He laughed.Hinata rolled his eyes, and elbowed Kageyama.
There was silence for a moment, and in that fleeting moment, Hinata got an idea.
"T-Tobio?" The sound of the foreign name on Hinata's tongue was weird. Kageyama didn't immediately respond, either.
When he did realize that it was Hinata who had said his first name, he was quite surprised.
"What did you call me?" He asked, putting his full attention on Hinata.
"That's your name. Tobio, Tooobio, Tobiiiiio-" He tried out the name.
"Fine, then. Shouyou. Shoooouyou." He said it exactly like Hinata, trying to be annoying.
"I don't like my name." Hinata immediately answered. "But y-you make it sound nice." He added.
Kageyama seemed happier at this, even if it was by a tiny bit.
"Dumbass Shouyou." Kageyama finally responded.
