This is it, Wattpad folks. You've waited a rough 5 months for this final update. Today, our final lesson is on your ending. The end of the show. How do you come up with something like that?
Your Ending
Let's get one thing straight: this is the end of my guide, but the beginning of your adventure. You're going to start your own story. You need to have everything planned out - from beginning to end.
You know what makes or breaks a story? The ending. Sure you need a good plot, opening, and everything else. But in the end, if your readers aren't satisfied with the ending, they will hate you for the rest of eternity.
How Do I Know When It's Over?
First of all, you should already know. Secondly, you need to end the book on a satisfactory level. An epilogue has a nice warm feeling (But like prologues, they're unnecessary and pull away from the plot of the story). DO NOT END ON A CLIFFHANGER.
I don't care if you have a sequel planned and already written. Never ever end on a cliffhanger. Chances are, they won't even check out the next story you have planned. In fact, they might go back and take back every vote they gave you.
Your ending needs to end the plot. It needs to be conclusive. Happy or sad or evil ending...it doesn't matter. Just satisfy your plot, however it might be. A first kiss, a bunch of fireworks, an atomic bomb - all are acceptable endings when applied correctly!
Even if you have a sequel, each book needs to act as a stand-alone, meaning that the story could stand just by itself even if you didn't come out with the next story. Your ending needs to be in your story. Not three books later.
Goodbye
And that's a wrap! You have been guided. You have been led. The best way to experience Wattpad is to explore. Learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others. That's the best way to live life, itself. Thank you for reading my guide. I've been all too happy to assist people, and I really hope this guide has helped you in your Wattpad experience. I can't promise that I'll have any stories completely finished and published, anymore. This might be my last completed work on Wattpad. Anyways, take care. I wish you luck and anytime you're in trouble, just remember, the guide is here. For the last time...
