For this section, we will be learning about the writing functions on Wattpad. This section will be split into Mobile and Web again. Don't worry, it won't be long.

Remember when we talked about all the functions throughout Wattpad and we came across Create and found there was only one button? Well, that was halfway true.

If you'd like, go ahead and press that button. See what happens.

A blank page should pop up. The top bar is where you put your title, and the huge blank space below is where you put your story. For now, just put something random in both boxes and hit save. We will start writing another time. Do NOT hit Save and Publish though, it might be a little embarrassing.

We are looking at the functions today, so let's head back. Here we will split into Mobile and Web

Mobile:

So you are looking at your work example. There should be the cover, the title, and a place that says "Tap here to write a description." At the top right there is a cross and three dots.

The cross adds another story part while the three dots lets you change the Cover, Details, and Settings of the story. The Details is just another way to change the description. Story Cover can also be changed by tapping Edit Story Cover or tapping the cover.

Story Settings though, this is important. This is where we will go later. Change the Story Language, choose the Category, Tags, Mark Completed, Licensing, and Content Rating (PG or R).

There's also this really cool ability where you can load an older version of your work, so this means you won't lose your parts when you make changes!

Now you have the ability to cut, copy, paste, bold, center, align left or right, and italicize anything you write. Just highlight and a list should show up. That's all there is to the Mobile version!

Web:

There are several more features to the Web version than the Mobile. At the top of this box you will notice several buttons.

(Update): Wattpad now automatically saves your work as you write, and it tells you if there are spelling errors in your writing. HOWEVER, you still need to press either "Publish Changes" or "Save and Review" for your edited/created writing to take effect.

Bold- A thick letter B which will bold the next things you write or highlight. This can also be turned on or off by pressing Ctrl + B.

Italic- I slanted letter I next to the bolding button. This will italicize anything highlighted or italicize anything you will write. This can also be turned on or off by pressing Ctrl + I.

Undo- The backwards blue arrow that will undo anything you've done. Ctrl + Z will also activate this.

Redo- The forward blue arrow that will redo anything you undid. Ctrl + Y will also activate this.

Full Screen Mode- Write in full screen by pressing the blue square.

Word Count: At the top right corner are the amount of words typed.

There's all the features surrounding the writing box. On the right are your Options where you can change Categories, Tags, Rating, Language, Visibility, Copyright, External Link, YouTube Video, and Photos.

Head back to My Works Page and you will see all sorts of buttons in the box. There's more than one button now isn't there?

On the left you see your cover, where you can change your cover by pressing edit, and the story parts.

On the right you see many other features. I will list them.

Stats- See the amount of Votes, Comments, and Reads on a bar/line graph. It should be like a stairway as you write parts and get reads. It should descend like stairs, only going up on occasion.

Manage- Change where story parts are placed, the description, title, mark completed, and the place where you can delete a story.

New Part- Add a new part to the story

Edit and Delete are pretty self-explanatory. Delete, well, deletes the part and Edit opens up the writing page.

That's All

That's all there is to it. I will talk about the Options after we've started writing, only in a more detailed manner. Next section we will talk about Prologues!
