He should never have put his guards down. He should have known.

But he was completely unprepared when a heavy weight found rest on his shoulders and with hands around his neck dragged him to the ground. He managed a muffled shout, warning Luhan who turned around, his eyes shining in fear as he watched the one he loved being choked to death by an unidentified person. It was a male, judging by their broad shoulders and mercilessly big hands still gripping tight around Sehun's bruised neck.

Sehun wanted to scream, to make Luhan run and save himself before he got caught too, but with his air supplies completely cut off, the only sound that escaped his abused throat was something more along the lines of a desperate call for help. And Luhan didn't move; he couldn't.

Sehun could only watch as they dragged him away, trying to keep eye contact with Luhan and tell him that they were going to be alright.

Minutes went by, and soon the kidnappers stopped, to Sehun's surprise and Luhan's devastation, in front of the town hall. The ivory tent almost resembled a ghost, lighting up in the middle of the darkness of the night.

--------------------

Neither Sehun nor Luhan had dared to speak a word after the unknown people had dropped them behind the hall, just outside the back entrance. Both males were shaking; one from fear and the other from the cold seeping from the ground and into his bones. Luhan's body was weak, and he had no fat to keep him warm, no muscles so he could protect himself. All he had was two perfect, blue eyes looking up at the sky as if he was asking it for help.

When a much awaited dawn came and the sun slowly crept further onto the morning sky, Luhan was no longer conscious, and Sehun was too exhausted from holding and warming him all night to do anything about it. Whoever had kidnapped them would be able to do anything they wanted with the two now, because they had already lost everything.

When they finally came, Sehun didn't fight back.

The two were dragged through the back entrance to the Town Hall in the cruelest manner; after slapping Luhan several times to wake him up, the mysterious men mercilessly tied them together by the wrists  and held them both by some kind of leash attached to the thin, but strong thread already cutting its way into Luhan's almost transparent skin.

When they entered through the small tent opening, they were met with a sight that they thought they would never see again; what seemed like nearly half of the town's inhabitants were sitting on their knees in a crescent-shape on the grass around the big stone which on other special occasions would serve as a platform. The last time they'd seen that was at Kyungsoo's revival ceremony almost half a year ago.

Speak of the devil - there he was, sitting in the second row, looking up at the two with eyes as wide as his mouth hanging open in surprise. Jongin was beside him - the two had been allowed to be near each other again after four months of complete separation. Still, they had managed to keep their hearts close, and their relationship didn't seem to have changed one bit.

Except they had to hide.. Well, certain things from the eyes carefully watching them, until they could finally be alone, even just for a short while.

Finally averting his eyes from his two beat down looking best friends, Kyungsoo remembered what the Healer had told the assembled townspeople.

"The two people waiting outside this hall have committed the greatest of crimes - they have shamed the essence of our culture and way of living. They have fallen to the disease we address as 'love'. Do not protest against the will of the community. Do not fight this. Accept it, as it is a thing we must do in order to maintain a safe way of living, not having to fear illness or in the worst case - this - death. "

And for the first time since before he was able to make memories, salty water welled up in his eyes, soon escaping them to run freely down his pale cheeks. Because he knew now what he was about to witness.

A/N: Hai.

I hope you don't hate me too much because I'm an idiot and I'm not so good at this yet so it takes a hell of a lot of time to write these chapters, even though they're really short... When the story is finished, I might connect some and make them into fewer but longer chapters!
