Kalia arrived back at the palace at two in the afternoon after her coffee date with Lisa. She snuck through the halls and up the staircase to her bedroom, in hopes to catch an hour's worth of a nap without her mother noticing. Since she was never taught how to drive a car, she had to call her family's trusted driver and swear him to secrecy about her early arrival in order for that to happen; but since Kalia was his favourite, it wasn't troublesome.

As she crept up the stairs, a voice sounds from the right, behind her.

"Where are you running off to, Kal?" Kalia mentally cursed at herself, scowling as she turns to find Ophelia at the corner behind the railing of the staircase.

"Come, I need to speak with you," she calls, and Kalia follows her into her bedroom down the magnificent hallway, much too wide for the amount of tenants, even with the stay of the maids and protectors. When they are behind closed doors, Ophelia hits her sister's arm, which starts smarting at her forceful contact.

"Ow! What in the bloody hell was that for?!"

"That's for not telling me about your conversation with father last night! I had to hear it over breakfast! FROM THE MAID!" she yells, flailing her arms around like a mad woman. Ophelia and Kalia were quite close, as she was with all of her sisters, but these two connected more or less because their age distance was not so sparse, as it was with Tessa and little Lena.

Kalia rubs at her arm. For such a petite girl, Ophelia could really pack a punch. "I'm sorry, but it was kind of the last thing on my mind when I was told I was going to be shipped off to the U.S. to live with a stranger."

She sighs, then punches Kalia again, in the same spot.

"What is the matter with you?!"

"Sorry, it's just vexing when you keep these things from me." As if I did it on purpose, Kalia thought, but didn't argue, because Opehlia was her little sister, and she supposed that she would want to know right away if it were the other way around. So instead, she explains the whole ordeal, as well as the plan, leaving out the part where Lisa helped her conjure up a better idea. Kalia figured that her sister would do more than just hit her arm if she had known that she hadn't been the first person Kalia told.

"You know, this isn't such a bad thing," Ophelia finally states. Kalia looked at her sister as though she'd grown another head, prompting her next argument. "Come on. You get to finally start your life. To go to another country, to get married... you've always been in love with the idea of marriage."

"That doesn't mean that I want an arranged, loveless marriage where I'm stuck in the royal castle like a damsel in distress. I don't want to leave London. I was supposed to go to college, meet new people, make something of myself..."
