On that same night, the final night of their stay, there was a small meeting called before dinner. Kalia was pulled out of her bedroom by her mother before pampering her minimally, and that was when she had found out, at the worst time possible, that she had underestimated the effects of her leaving of Prince Elec abruptly in the middle of the ballroom and her all-together unfriendly nature toward him. There he sat, on the couch across from her, one ankle resting itself on the other leg's knee, fixing her with an icy stare. By the way he continued to glare at her with his pointed crystal hue eyes, she soon fathomed that his pride was punctured by her petty dismissal the night before, but more importantly, her cold words to him earlier that afternoon in the library.

He must have been embarrassed at her rejection to his attempted words of endearment, she thought, and her rolled eyes in habit. Men... she didn't have much experience with them, but she knew how arrogant they could be. But still, the look he gave her was kind of frightening. Not in the way she should fear for her life, but in one that challenged her worst nightmares to come true, all possible at his large, capable hands.

Being folded down to two thirds of his height on the couch didn't lessen his imposing stature and the ability for him to tower over his father and mother, who sat at either sides of him, both failing at making himself appear any less menacing. He looked like he was out to get her, and the longer that idea pondered in Kalia's mind made him more and more frightening to her.

Step four: it was the decision made on the Prince's part, and more often than not the proposal - where he, with the help of his King and Queen, would decide whether the princess was to their liking, as well as fit enough to succor in overseeing their royal kingdom when the time would come.

"The wedding will be in two weeks' time."

Hearing those words come out of King Eltis' mouth felt like a slap in the face, and she finally understood Prince Elec's final words to her after their little scruff. Although it seemed like she had a choice in the matter, no one had asked Kalia whether she agreed to marry Elec or not, and they didn't need to. She would agree, of course. She had to.

Kalia was unable to keep her thoughts in one place; not able to keep her mind in a rational state. She wasn't able to see the satisfied smirk that clung to Elec's lips like a monkey to a tree.

Queen Celeste read the panic on Kalia's face, and recoiled her husband's declaration. "Perhaps we should extend that to one month." When all eyes are turned to her, she continues with an explanation for her counter against the great King's word. "With all the preparations that need to be made, it will be too much of a rush and silly to assume that everything will be at it's prime in that short span of time. The bride's dress alone will need three weeks to be sewn and stitched, at the least, if it is to be as glamorous as I imagine, and as she deserves it to be."

Queen Lania nodded in agreement, and so it was. The wedding was set to be on the last Thursday of January in New York, and as King Eltis spoke the date, it was akin to it being carved in stone. Irreversible.

Kalia's gaze hadn't met Elec's for the remainder of the discussion, and retired to her bedroom in hopes to rest before the celebratory dinner that would commence in a few hours' time. Given the circumstances working against her favour, she was not in a festive mood.

Now, seated at the dining table being put to it's full use, Kalia realized it was hopeless. Miserably, she took a good look at Prince Elec, only in the moments he seemed inattentive to her, finding some courage within her even after the scrap they had earlier in the library. He had seemed to be ignoring her the whole night since then.

She couldn't help but think that even if her plan worked and Elec had decided that she wasn't the right princess for him as well as the future of his kingdom in New York, she knew it wouldn't be long until the next eligible bachelor made a marital arrangement with her parents for her to land in another's possession. It would buy her some time, sure, but for what? To do what? Worry until the next will show up? And what if he was worse than this arrogant, rude, pretentiously handsome man sitting across from her. She couldn't think of anyone that could possibly frustrate her more.

In the midst of the celebrations. Gold plated trays cradled colorful fruits, whole roasted chickens, turkeys and a number of other delicacies being served at the centre of the long table, their mixed aromas delectable, making Kalia's stomach rumble. The bustle of butlers coming through the room from the kitchen and into the dining room in lines, as though rehearsed and the head chef himself making an appearance after the staff had settled and the main dishes had been served.

Prince Elec wasn't harsh on the eyes, not nearly. But physical attraction wasn't what run a marriage, much less a kingdom, and Kalia knew that.

If there was one thing she knew, it was not to push her luck. This was her destiny, and it was stupid to think or hope otherwise. Traitorous thoughts couldn't help but flood through her mind. Thoughts that told her that she was fortunate that his parents were such lovely, kind people. The royal company from different places, countries and states across the world that they had borne in the past had told her that others were not so kind, and unfortunate marriages were destroyed before they even began because of them.

Stealing another helpless glance at her husband-to-be, Kalia wondered hopelessly how her and this brooding man before her would be able to make this arrangement work, and with hope, will no day soon be ruling over the whole east side of the United States.
