Chapter Twelve - Dismay of Separation! Recover and Run!

 There was no strength left, only fatigue and hopelessness. The eyes of a dead man; soulless.

 "Mamma..." A little girl whimpered. 

 The mother of this particular girl was panicking. She had seemingly found a dead young man in the forest near her village, and she didn't know what to do. 

 "He's dead...what could have killed him? A curse?" The mother stammered.

 "Mamma!" The girl shouted, shattering her mothers wall of panic for a moment. "He's not dead!"

 The mother knelt by the shirtless boy, "What?"

 "He's just sleeping! Look!" The girl lay her head on the man's chest, and then beckoned for her mother to as well.

 When she dead, the mother found there was a heartbeat, slow and faint, but still there. She gasped, "We need to get him back to the village!"

 The unconscious boy was lifted onto the mothers back; the mother was very surprised when she found that the boys body was cold as ice.

 The two plus the boy, hurried quickly back to their village to help the boy. 

 Gray woke up to a comfortable room; it was a nice cool room. A blanket had been placed across Gray's shoulders, and a very comfortable pillow under his neck. Gray blinked, and sat up. Immediately, pain exploded in his chest. Probably where the flame brain knocked me back...thought Gray. Great...I don't even know where he is to lecture him...

 "Well, I see you've woken up!" Exclaimed a cheery voice.

 Gray cocked his head and scowled, finding a tall woman smiling down at him, "Uh...yeah...where am I?"

 The woman's eyebrows furrowed, "Why...you're in Junyik."

 "Uh..." Gray cleared his voice. "...I'm sorry, where?"

 "Junyik." 

 "Now, why in the f-"

 "Are you about to swear, dear?" 

Gray chuckled nervously, "Um, well-"

 "You know, when I'm mad, I just say fudge." 

 "Okay. I'll remember that," Gray sighed. "uh, how long ago did you find me?" 

 "Well, I didn't find you. Maryanne and Kirina found you, deary! Seems to me that you scared them almost to death!" Explained the woman. "By the way, my name is Taryena."

 Taryena was a tall woman. Smile wrinkles were lined by her green eyes and rosy cheeks. Her skin was a chocolate brown, and her hair was short, curly and a graying black. 

 "Nice to meet you Taryena...my name is Gray...Gray Fullbuster. So, Teryena, I haven't ever heard of Junyik..."

 "Well, yes, that's a response we get from travelers. We're a small village and we aren't near any big cities like Magnolia, or Era...but we are happy even without lots of people. We make our own crops here, meat, wheat...we're a happy village. But, we actually used to be as popular as Hargeon Town," said Taryena.

 "What happened then?"

 "Well...we lost a lot of people..."

 "So you were attacked?"

 Taryena nodded slightly, her smile slowly vanishing as she lowered herself into a chair by Gray's bed, "Yes. At least four hundred years ago...my grandmother was alive at the time, don't be surprised, we all do live long lives...anyways, we were attacked by a great black dragon. Many of our warriors died."
