Chapter Twenty One - The Truth Behind the Trial

(Eight hours before trial)

"They found Natsu!?" Hisui exclaimed.

"And Zeref." Toma finished. "I do not want Natsu to die, but, there isn't a way that we can prevent his execution for his newfound identity..."

Hisui closed her eyes and shook her head sadly, "But...hey, who is ordering the execution?"

"A man named Walkus Oreke, he had moved up the ranks very far and is in charge of things like this. We can't stop the execution, because Natsu wouldn't be safe from the people anyways, and we would have a rebellion on our hands..."

"Screw a rebellion!" Hisui exclaimed. "I'm going to talk to this Walkus Oreke now!"

Hisui stormed away to find out where this man was staying. She found him at the court discussing things with a group of people.

"Are you Walkus Oreke?" Hisui asked.

A man in the center of the group looked up. He wore glasses and had a snooty face. His hair was a graying black and his eyes were a dark green.

"Princess Hisui?" Walkus bowed, "A pleasure."

"Yes, I came to talk to you about the execution of the Dragneel's-"

"Ah, ah, ah." Walkus raised his hand. "I must stop you there, Princess. Though you and your father are royalty, this is out of your hands. The case of the Dragneel's has been placed in my responsibility, and I will not talk about it further with you."

"Please just give them a second chance!"

"A second chance?" Walkus shook his head, "Please! You do know their crimes! You know their crimes! You know how many people died from them!"

Hisui lowered her head, "Natsu is my personal friend...please-"

"Natsu Dragneel is currently dying himself-"

"What!?"

"He sustained a fatal injury during the war, and we aren't planning on treating him, because he was set to be executed tomorrow anyways." Walkus explained, "I'm sorry you and that boy were friends, but he is an evil demon that deserves death. He deserves restitution for his crimes."

Hisui bit her lip. "But-"

"I cannot help you."

Walkus and his group began to walk away, and Hisui vigorously thought. And then it came to her.

"Mr. Oreke!" She called, causing the man to stop. "I-If I can get enough people, besides the Fairy Tail guild to sign a petition for a fair trial for the Dragneel's by midnight tonight, will you give them a fair trial?"

Walkus thought, "If you do not?"

"You can proceed with the execution."

"You do realize, that a fair trial could end up with execution?"

"I do."

Walkus thought a moment, "If you can get over at least one hundred and fifty people to sign by midnight, not counting the Fairy Tail guild, then yes."
