I decided since it was our one year anniversary, I would make a special dinner for Niall and myself. He was at the studio recording with the boys, but he should be home within the next hour or so. After making Niall's favorite foods and a ton of it, I had to freshen up because I was exhausted and hot from all the cooking. I wore my favorite dress and added some cute accessories and shoes.
Seven o'clock passed and Niall still hadn't shown. I was expecting him to be home awhile ago, but thought that he probably got stuck in traffic, so I wasn't worried. Another hour passed and I began to lose hope after sitting at the table looking at all the tempting food in front of me. Even though Niall still wasn't home, I still sat at the table. The food was cold by now and I felt that it all went to waste.
"God, what do I even try with him?" I mumbled to myself. I sat at that table waiting for Niall for hours after you made the meal, expecting him to be home already. At about midnight, I heard the front door open and Niall kick off his shoes. A few minutes later he stepped into the kitchen, heading to the fridge and not even noticing I was in there. That was until I let out a sigh, trying to get him to notice you.
"Princess! What're you doing up?" He had a grin on his face that spread ear to ear as he walked over to peck you on the lips, but you dodged it. "[y/n], what’s wrong with you?"
"You figure that one out, Niall."
"What do you mean?"
"You obviously care more about your job than me. Especially if you can't remember what today is..." My head dropped to the table.
"Your birthday?" I picked my head back up, rolling my eyes at him, as I got up to walk out of the flat.
"You're pathetic, Niall."
"[y/n]! Where are you going?"
"I'm leaving. Maybe you can find a new person to share our anniversary dinner with." I grabbed my keys and purse while walking to the door. Where I was going, I had no idea, but I wasn’t staying there. I got in my car and I saw Niall standing at the doorstep with tears in his eyes looking at me walk away. My heart dropped as I saw him, but I just needed to be alone for a couple of hours, to straighten my thoughts.
Niall called me time and time again, but I just didn’t feel like talking to him. I threw my phone to the back of the car so I didn’t have to listen to it ring. I put the music as loud as it could go. I drove for hours until I got to the beach.
It was the middle of the night, and the moon and the stars were shining. It was just like the night of our weeding. The only thing missing for the night to be perfect was Niall.
I got out of the car, took my shoes of and completely forgot about my phone. I sat on the sand, and it was frizzing, so I opened the trunk of the car and got a little blanket I had there, and you also found my phone. Niall had called me more than 50 times. I didn’t want to deal with him. I just freak out and threw my phone in the water.
I finally sat and calmed down listening to the waves hit the shore. It was one of the only sounds, besides Niall singing to me that could really calm me down. Listening to the waves and looking to the stars reminded me of Niall; I had the image of him crying his heart out on our doorstep.
I was still a little upset at him. To me, our one year was so important, but surprisingly, the one person you thought would never forget something like this, completely forgot. I couldn’t stop crying. How could he forget? It didn’t look like something he’d do.
I was so tired from all the cooking that I laid on my back and was just staring at the stares. Something I did with Niall on the night of our weeding. The sky was magnificent. It was a bit cold but I was so tired that I didn’t even mind and ended up falling asleep on the beach.
