Chapter 68:Silence

Some scars are deep and excruciating but invisible.

Sometimes this means that others don't really notice the issues causing the scars, sometimes it leads to callous remarks that etch the scars in deeper, but just because it doesn't leave a physical mark does not mean it doesn't leave a mark on the soul.

For Flame users these particular scars are dangerous because their Flames come from the soul and if the soul is scarred and shattered too much it will it cause their Flames to react in ways that are usually negative and deadly for their user and for the people around the user.

It is especially true for Sky Flame users, who need harmony in themselves to use the effects of their Flames and support their Guardians and achieve Harmonization with said Guardian.

If a Guardian Harmonized with a Sky who was too close to shattering it could drag not only the Sky into insanity, but all the Guardians along with them when they shattered. It usually led to someone needing to 'put down' the Sky and their Guardians because they snapped and tended to go out in such a way that caused massive death tolls.

No one would realize for a very long time just how close Tsunayoshi Sawada had been to shattering.

It may not have been so bad, but when Tsuna was little and his Flames had been sealed away, it had started the imbalance in him, in his Soul, which the Ninth had partially locked away in a sense. It had ripped part of Tsuna away from himself, an intensely powerful part that Tsuna had used his entire life.

This small action started a snowball of problems beginning with causing Tsuna issues in balance and focus, which led to his grades and physical performance falling, which gave all the children around him the excuse they needed to bully him. The children that bullied him did it for many reasons. Some because it was expected, some because they were just bullies, some because if Tsuna was bullied they weren't, butsome, some of the children bullied Tsuna because his Sky Flames were gone and they didn't understand that Tsuna had been Calling them as potential Guardians, that their Flames- there but not Active, not usable yet- had been responding to Tsuna's Sky Flames and when the Flames were suddenly gone they could feel it inside their souls,feel the pain of the budding bonds that they hadn't even known were there shatter and it hurt and all they knew was it was Tsuna's fault...

That small action led to a host of problems that caused the beginning of Tsuna's issues.

Touch.

It was so, so important to children, but especially to a Sky, who found their Guardians through touch. Who Harmonized that way, found the missing pieces of their soul that were their Guardians- the people who synched with their very souls.

And all Tsuna received in his formative years was touch that hurt. A hit to the face, the stomach, a kick to the side, feet that tripped him, hands that pushed and pulled...

Even his Mother's touch hurt.

Not that she hit him ever and he loved her more than he could ever say, but she never really touched him except for a pat on the head or a hair ruffle and that wasn't really enough to counter all the pain pain pain especially when even she said he was Useless Tsuna because that hurt too even if it was only words.

And that soft, soft voice in the back of his head that whispered and wondered:
