Chapter 67:Protect

It took a long time for Xanxus to get over the defeat to Tsuna and to see the Boss he was capable of being. Even after he saw Tsuna's potential it takes even longer for Xanxus to respect the brat.

He may have defended Tsuna, followed orders where necessary in defense of the Family, prevented assassination attempts but it was just a job. It was not until a month into Tsuna's reign that Xanxus learns respect for the Sky that had defeated him.

It is not until the day Tsuna blinks at him, utterly and honestly confused and astounded when Xanxus snaps at him "Why are you asking my opinion, trash? You're the Boss, why ask me what I think?" because he is convinced Tsuna is asking his opinions, bringing him into conversations of the defense of the family and asking his opinion on the jobs they are offered to mock him, mock what should have been his.

When Tsuna responds open and honest and confused about why Xanxus had doubted it for a moment, meaning every word that comes out of his mouth "Xanxus, it doesn't matter that I am the Don, it doesn't matter that you're not, or that you're technically not blood related, you're family and will always be family and you long ago earned the right to defend the Family so I ask you for your opinions because you are more experienced and will help me keep our family and our Family safe and prepared."

That was the moment Xanxus realized Tsuna welcomed him, valued him, and was willing to listen to those with more experience than himself, and he learned to respect the brat.

A month after that is when Xanxus finds that he's actually protective of the brat and he has no idea how it happened. (no matter what he says or implies to the contrary)
